What you’ll be doing...
The Director of Business Development (BD) will lead a team of leaders and business development professionals responsible for driving significant growth in Public Sector’s largest opportunity accounts in a cost-effective manner.
The Director (player/coach) will lead their team to:
- Top Account Relationship Management
Adviseto senior client stakeholders, co-creating connectivity, security, and IT strategy with CIO/CTO of Top Accounts
Cultivate and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders at Top Accounts (e.g., CIO)
Lead Public Sector’s top 100 to 150 ranked accounts overall business relationship and other nominated strategic engagements
Develop and execute an overall client business plan to achieve Public Sector’s client objectives and nurturing senior executive and board level relationships as required for plan delivery
Build trust and credibility at all levels within the client organization and internally within Public Sector and, thereby, identify business client priorities and ensure Public Sector has a key role in achieving them; responsible for shaping and driving all opportunities to a successful conclusion
- Opportunity Identification and Qualification
Develop strategies to drive upsell and cross-sell revenue in a top account, by identifying, qualifying, and managing execution of new growth opportunities
Develop a deep understanding of existing technology infrastructure and customer needs and challenges
Assess feasibility of addressing different needs given available suite of products and identify and prioritize opportunities for account growth
- Top Account Strategy
Lead identified opportunities through qualification process; develop business cases for high-priority opportunities
Liaise with Top Account, Finance, and Sales teams to influence bid parameters of opportunities and determine relative ROI of bid
- Contract & Bid Management Support
Participate in cross-functional review sessions of proposal (e.g., technical fit, compliance, value proposition) to ensure competitiveness of bid within broader account strategy
Co-create contract vehicle strategy for relevant agency with capture and contracts/proposals team
Develop 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year account plans for a Top Account, keeping in mind Verizon’s changing product suite and market landscape
Lead the development of relevant market research, customer segmentation, and competitive analysis to inform sales strategies
Orchestrate and coach internal sales and solutions teams in implementing strategy
What we’re looking for...
Bachelor’s degree and/or 10+ years of relevant work experience
8+ years in business development and/or capture roles in the technology industry
5+ years of direct supervisory experience
Ideally science/engineering/commercial degree qualified
Demonstrable experience in achieving results in a complex, distributed organization and of providing complex, multi-departmental, IT, or Telecom services to government clients
Experience leading major IT transformation efforts involving organization and process re-design
Experience managing and influencing client relationships at the senior executive level
Knowledge of various forms of technology – intermediate to advanced user of MS applications, Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, and internal application
