What you’ll be doing...

We are constantly innovating to unleash the power of our network and technology and you can ensure we stay at the forefront, providing an unequalled customer experience. You will be a key member of the team passionate about the technology evolution of virtualized network functions across our organization. Your role will involve leading the overall deployment and design of the feature roadmap for our orchestration solutions. Talking to many internal and external partners, you’ll integrate solutions with all other areas of the organization.

  • Integrating with our virtualization efforts including new on-boarding methodologies, open and closed loop service assurance practices, and tying in with new and legacy tools to improve and automate aspects of FCAPS.

  • Enabling the transformation to new DevOps best practices by taking advantage of efficiencies gained by a software defined network that can be programmed and run through a single orchestration layer.

  • Working with functions within the business including internal and external system architects, product line managers, network operations leads, DevOps leads, and a variety of both business and technical organizations spanning our enterprise.

  • Transforming long standing procedures and operations within the organization. As a member of the Emerging Technology team focusing on Virtualized RAN planning.

  • Providing very good understanding of fundamental RAN base station (4G/5G) processing and architecture, including aspects that impact performance & capacity.

  • Providing expertise and knowledge of silicon used for development of RAN products, including general purpose processors, FPGAs and custom ASICs.

  • Developing targets, assessing and testing performance of RAN workloads

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience with Datacenter virtualization technologies (servers, networks and software stacks), monitoring tools and processes.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.

  • Bachelor’s or advance degree in engineering, computer science engineering, or business.

  • Experience in the telecom industry.

  • Experience working with virtualized/containerized RAN implementations.

  • Experience working on open interfaces between RAN components.

  • Analytical ability to evaluate compute needs for variety of processors, deployment scenarios and call models.

  • Analytical skills to develop targets, assess & test performance of RAN workloads

  • Advanced skills within a professional discipline and general knowledge of other areas. Requires independent thinking. Demands full use and application of principles, theories, concepts and technologies.

  • Experience with OpenStack CLI commands and administration Linux/Unix scripting, especially for TCP/IP stack, Firewalls (iptables), DNS and VPNs.

  • Configuration management tools experience including Puppet, Chef, or Ansible, and Jenkins.

  • Network device configuration experience in Juniper and Cisco, with NetConf network configuration protocol and YANG data model.

  • CLI configuration experience of Cisco, HP, or Juniper switches and routers, Palo Alto firewalls, and f5 load balancers.

  • LTE, IMS, and MPN experience.

  • Virtual and Physical Network Functions experience.

  • Software Defined Networking principals and system experience.

  • Wireline network and service experience including Private and Public IP network services, Switched Ethernet Services, Managed network services using Viptella and Versa.

  • Python, Java scripts, SOAP, Ruby, and PHP programming experience.

  • API development experience based on JSON and XML.

  • Server provisioning experience using cloud-init and cloud configuration.

  • TOSCA and YAML experience.

  • HOT Template and OVF based VNF descriptors experience.

  • Advanced skills within a professional discipline and general knowledge of other areas requiring independent thinking and demanding full use and application of principles, theories, concepts and technologies.
