What you’ll be doing...

GTS Strategy and Planning team’s mission is to create the GTS functional roadmap and strategy based on long-term business priorities and industry trends; develop and scale global resource management and delivery functions; and strategically ensure consistent prioritization, planning, and execution across project portfolios.

The ExecutiveDirector will act as a key contributor and facilitator to identify opportunities to lead strategic COEs and technical capability centers within GTS. Through various partnerships, will drive internal and external best practices across the technology organization. The individual will partner with other executives to drive strategic technical thinking, sharing of information and collaboration, and defining new opportunities that leverage/influence technology and expertise to solve business challenges and which provide a competitive advantage. In addition, the individual will demonstrate strong leadership, communication skills and ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.


  • Lead strategic COEs and technical capability centers within GTS
  • Build and access innovation networks internally and across industry
  • Bring best practices within UI / UX CoE to improve experience on end-customer facing applications
  • Develop forward looking competency roadmaps to develop strategic capabilities internally
  • Drive and lead analysis for new business opportunities by leveraging the Verizon Strategy process – problem solving around critical business issues, creating valuation models to assess different options, utilizing data science tools to support the analysis and designing new solutions
  • Frame and analyze complex GTS problems - evaluating business objectives and offering guidance and insight into value proposition, cost, time and resource implications for a given decision, relative to other options
  • Partner to drive execution – working alongside GTS leaders to drive execution, facilitating governance and communication processes for select projects
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders – working closely with business and functional leaders on cross-functional growth initiatives, designing blueprints for new ways of working, and other disciplines
  • Develop new strategic capabilities and drive the GTS 3 year strategy – enabling GTS to build its own “strategic muscle” best suited for its business needs, building data-driven solutions

What we’re looking for...

  • BS or equivalent work experience; MBA highly desired
  • 10+ years of business unit or corporate strategy, scenario planning, consulting from a top-tier management consulting or services company
  • Prior experience in management consulting preferred
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills required, demonstrated experience with business case development required.
  • Confident storytelling skills and the ability to communicate concisely to executive levels.
  • Demonstrated excellence in thinking holistically about a problem
  • Preferred experience with technology and demonstrated experience in recognizing disruptive technologies and adapting a plan towards the disruption.
  • Passion for technology crucial
  • Highly developed analytical, strategic and critical thinking skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively synthesize information and present findings to senior management
  • Ability to manage through the social system
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity
  • Ability to negotiate, influence, manage and drive action
  • Demonstrated ability to create a point of view and influence across others
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills
