What you’ll be doing...

As a Software Engineer on Verizon Smart Communities team, you’ll participate in the feature development, testing and support of the Smart Lighting IOT solution.

  • Building software with an eye for scalability, maintainability and customer satisfaction.

  • Responsible for overall quality by participating in design, code and test reviews, supporting customers in production and being a champion for automated testing!

  • Mentoring, sharing knowledge, and participating in the technical discussions with a strong focused work ethic and a make-it-happen mindset.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or four or more years of work experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Four or more years of experience in E2E delivery of production-grade software including design, development, automation and production support.

  • Four or more years of programming experience in Java, Scala and or/ Python.

Even better if you have:

  • Two or more years of experience in AWS or other Cloud platforms like Azure/GCP.

  • Two or more years of experience in Kafka or other messaging technologies such as Google Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ.

  • Three or more years of experience in one or more databases: noSQL databases like Cassandra or relational databases like DynamoDB/Aurora.

  • Experience with development frameworks, monitoring tools, command-line applications (Akka Streams, Spring Boot, git, ssh, grafana/prometheus/datadog) and other aspects of developing in large, distributed software teams.

  • Experience in one or more unit and e2e testing frameworks like JUnit, JMeter, Locust, BlazeMeter Exposure to Big Data pipelines and technologies.

  • Experience working with IOT solutions.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
