What you’ll be doing...

The ASOC (Advanced Security Operations Centre) Team Leader will manage a 24x7 team of Cyber Security Specialists managing dedicated SIEM platforms for a select group of highly engaged customers. Staffing can range from Tier 1 junior analysts through to Tier 3 senior analysts. You will be responsible for performance management, staff development (including training and career development), rostering, capacity and skill sets, some project management and collaborating with teams across the Verizon entities.

You will act as owner of the service and provide internal escalation for your team members. Work collaboratively with our Client Services organization, Service Advisors, Professional Services, Sales and any other teams involved in delivery of the ASOC service within Verizon. You will contribute to raising cohesion, performance and leadership as well as service improvement. You will establish yourself as an equal member of the global team of SOC managers in other regions reporting to the Global Security Operations Director. With regular and ongoing governance of service delivery including reporting, analysis, recommendations for improvements and follow-up, you will nurture working relationships with customers and key stakeholders. You will constantly review existing methods and approaches, addressing any communication or process gaps.

  • Manage operations focused programs such as training, client advocacy, transition to operations, change management and knowledge transfer, and will drive new areas for improvement.
  • Managing the Advanced Security Operations Center (SOC) and all personnel;
  • Ensuring that the ASOC meets and exceeds the expectations of each customer, including meeting customer SLA’s and priorities;
  • Working with other regional Supervisors to align SOC processes & procedures across all regions to guarantee quality of service 24x7;
  • And ensuring that the Security Operations team fully adheres to processes, procedures and policies that are currently in place.
  • Working with Sales to help grow the business.
  • Partner with IT to address existing issues impacting service delivery and identify and help implement automation to drive down costs.
  • Ensure team compliance with Security Standards such as ISO9K or ISO27K and the ISMS systems in use by MSS.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.
  • Experience leading teams or shifts.
  • Extensive experience in IT, Security & Networking.
  • Experience with people management.
  • Good knowledge of the current Threat Landscape.
  • Knowledge of later movement post exploitation detection techniques.
  • Knowledge of metrics to measure Security Analysts and overall SOC performance.
  • Fluency in English – both written and verbal.

Even better if you have:

  • BSc or equivalent in technology: EE, CS or related field and ITIL Foundation certification. CISSP, CISM and SANS knowledge (SANS GIAC certification such as GCIA, GCIH, GSEC, GCFA or OCSP certification).
  • Leadership experience with excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong management skills with Analyst and/ or Engineer management experience.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Resourceful and competent in all aspects of information security.
  • Experience with customer relationship management should include handling escalations both internally within Verizon and externally with customers.
  • Solid problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Good understanding of the current Threat Landscape.
  • Understanding later movement post exploitation detection techniques.
  • Technical ability to function as incident response escalation when needed.
  • Ability to mentor and grow a team of Security Analysts.
  • Experience to present to small to medium sized groups.
  • In depth understanding of perimeter security devices and how they work.
  • Ability to understand an organization’s threat posture and provide security advice.
  • Ability to translate security concerns into a business context and articulate issues to management.
  • Ability to assess and measure the impact that process or tools changes have on operations service delivery.
  • A government security clearance may be required in specific instances.
  • Ability to identify and measure key work drivers and drive down costs to deliver the service.
  • In depth understanding of TCP/IP, endpoint processes and packet analysis.
  • Ability to weigh business needs against security concerns and articulate issues to management.
  • Ability to assess and measure the impact that process or tools changes have on operations service delivery.
  • College Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Memory Forensics or Pen Testing experience.
