What you’ll be doing...
As a product profitability Manager you will analyze reports to identify revenue and cost trends. Partner with Product to identify root causes of negative factors, along with potential remedies to correct the underlying issues (50% of time). Develop, validate and enhance product cost models across the Verizon Business Portfolio. Challenge assumptions and identify innovative solutions to reduce direct or indirect cost factors. Lead cost and process reviews to identify and minimize / eliminate inefficiencies in Verizon Business products (30%). Support product rationalization efforts by exploring all solutions available to product, comparing similar or replacement products by margin, revenue opportunities, effort to deliver and marketplace suitability(20%). Partner with other departments to investigate issues - for example, why a product might have both declining revenue and declining margins while the market is growing. Expected to identify root causes with multiple options to resolve, provide supporting analysis to defend these recommendations. These analyses and recommendations would be made in partnership with product owners, finance and other organizations. In this role, the employee would bring both product and financial acumen to challenge / defend assumptions.
- Provides solutions to a diverse range of complex business problems using a mix of established and newly developed solutions.
- Responsible for selecting methods and techniques for solving problems.
- Plans and executes own work under general guidance with latitude in selecting work methods, identifying resources, coordinating the work of others as necessary, and resolving most conflicts that arise
- Review profitability and financials trends across a range of products.
- Lead on defining and developing unit costs for multiple products.
- Identify the cost factors of a product, define units of measure, develop tools to capture this data and apply it to financial data to determine the unit costs.
- Analyzing trends and constantly be looking for opportunities to improve the unit costs for these various products - requiring solid knowledge of underlying network fundamentals, and preferably knowledge of voice communications, security, wireless and other products.
- Analyzing profitability trends and making recommendations accordingly.
- Partnering between multiple teams (Product, Finance, Operations, etc). The employee does not own these products, but rather is driving towards an outcome.
- Involved in product rationalization efforts, looking at both the marketplace as well as multiple competing products Verizon may offer and making recommendations to prioritize (or deprioritize) certain products and not others.
- Partner with Product and Sales to determine market needs and trends, identify potential Verizon products (or gaps) and then take a 360 view of the options to make recommendations, look not only at direct costs, but support, implementation and build-out costs, operational complexity and other drivers that may impact customer experience.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you’ve:
- Eight or moreyear ofexperience with telecommunications networks or networking products.
- Demonstrated experience performing complex financial analysis to determine financial viability, risks and rewards.
- Experience developing product cost models and identifying gaps or opportunities for improvement
- Strong ability to communicate technical, financial and operational issues and recommendations to leadership.
- Excellent understanding of product and financial principles.
- Ability to partner with multiple teams, influence and drive consensus around product lifecycle recommendations.
