What you’ll be doing...

We are adding a Senior Data Scientist to work on a challenging portfolio of innovative projects that will enable digital operational excellence in Verizon Business Group (VBG) Customer Operations. The program direction includes artificial intelligence, operations automation, and industry leading omnichannel technology to improve the efficiency and client experience of our services. You will focus on developing models to solve business problems. You will regularly use machine learning and statistical methodologies. Your expertise to transform complex data into easily understood, actionable information will be valuable to this effort.

  • Champion the adoption of advanced data science analytics across customer operations.
  • Research, design, validate, and implement operations initiatives by translating results from data into actionable insights that help drive business goals and improve operational performance.
  • Develop and automate analytical reports for various business units and stakeholders throughout the organization to enable educated decision making.
  • Regularly present and share findings with stakeholders to drive action within the operations environment and promote business intelligence and analytics tools and strategies.
  • Monitor and analyze key metrics and execute recurring analysis and reporting.
  • Coordinate with other team members to understand and identify the business problems and deliver the comprehensive analytical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and provide analytical support as necessary.
  • Act as a trainer and mentor to other Data Scientists; and SME for peers inside and outside the organization.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Six or more years of experience as a Data Scientist doing advanced analytics and predictive modeling.
  • Experience in modeling unstructured text data (Natural Language Processing).
  • Experience with large and complex data sets.
  • Machine learning and data-mining background.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects with a strict focus on detail.
  • Analytic experience related to working with unstructured datasets.
  • Strong experience programming in Python, Julia or R, and querying data in SQL.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated data analytics and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience working with psychometric modeling.
  • Experience with Data Visualization Tools (Tableau, Power BI, DOMO, Oracle BI, Etc.).
  • Experience deploying machine learning models to production.
  • Experience working in a network operations center environment.
  • Experience training and mentoring teams.
