What you’ll be doing...

You will lead a team of 4-6 professionals to provide the organizational, operational and management support required to advance the objectives of the enterprise data governance program. You will leadcross functional data management, data governance, and data operations initiatives providing insight and guidance towards data integrity across business units. You will provide project managements support specific to governance, policies and standards, compliance and controls initiatives within the directorate. You will establish and control a change management process as well as reporting & communication standards.

  • Establish and lead an advisory body that provides data governance recommendations and solutions in response to transformational initiatives within Verizon’s lines of business.
  • Apply broad-based knowledge and experience about data governance industry standards to develop and implement strategic improvement plans, identify capability gaps and develop and support the implementation of a recommended plan of action to close the gaps.
  • Manage organizational data metrics to continuously align data needs with the business requirements and data governance. Assess Data Maturity based on industry standard models & develops and collects monthly KPIs for the Data Governance program.
  • Act as a change agent to articulate intent, drive awareness, and support communications and training to ensure effective adoption of data governance policies and practices across Verizon.
  • Analyze the impacts of new federal, privacy and ethical regulatory requirements to the data governance solution.
  • Develop framework and holistic approach of implementing regulatory mandated data governance functionality across Verizon’s business units
  • Ensure consistent implementation of new data governance requirements across Verizon. Identify, communicate, and coordinate interdependencies across portfolios, work efforts, and delivery teams.
  • Establish program management framework to ensure project delivery across the data governance portfolio with clear accountability and transparency across the teams and business stakeholders, including success criteria, risks/issues, budgets and resources
  • Define tools and templates to support release planning, sprint schedules, status reporting, and milestone tracking.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience rolling out a data governance program.
  • Experience in data management, enterprise program management and portfolio management.
  • Experience delivering projects in the data management area: BI/DW, MDM, Analytics, Data Science, Data Governance and / or Data Quality.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree. Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Science, or Engineering.
  • PMP certification.
  • Experienced with change management and organizational readiness as part of delivering new capabilities and systems.
  • Experience as an Agile Scrum Master.
  • Strong knowledge of program/project management methods and tools.
  • Knowledge of project tracking tools such as JIRA.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and critical thinking.
