What you’ll be doing...

The Chief Cyber Defense Stretegistis responsible for defining, designing and implementing Cyber Defence solutions in a customer environment, utilising standard service offerings or facilitating the design of new services. You will provide solution advisory and scoping support during the pre-sales phase and lead the implementation of the solution, ensuring customer expectations are met within the realm of the contract.

Funcationally leading a team of senior technical consultants, you will act as the main point of contact for Cyber Defence in Japan, providing a conduit between Verizon’s technical/delivery teams and client leadership. By promoting the Professional Services portfolio and actively supporting the presales process, you will support Verizon Sales and Pre-Sales to generate Professional Services revenue.



  • Work with Sales to drive out and refine end-client business requirements and associated security services solutions.

  • Assist Sales and Presales in developing proposals and customer responses aligned with Professional Services offerings.

  • Take a lead role in the definition, scope, approach, planning and estimating of PS security services.

  • Support and actively participate in the business development of the practice by identifying additional business opportunities within the current client base.


  • Lead delivery projects: ensure provided solutions remain in scope, budget, and aligned to agreed business requirements, appropriate delivery methodologies are followed, and effective governance is applied.

  • Provide support and guidance for other PS consultants.

  • Provide peer reviews of HLD, LLD and other project documentation as required.

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to understand business requirements and prepare appropriate technical solution designs at high and low levels.

Practice development

  • Business development to meet Cyber Defense revenue targets by driving business growth with existing and new clients.

  • Contribute to the on-going development of global security services that reflect industry best practice while remaining aligned to customer requirements and expectations.

  • Meet with vendors/partners to keep abreast of new/emerging security technologies, products and services.

  • Mentor less experienced members of the PS team.

  • Act as an advocate of the PS team within the wider Verizon business.


  • Maintain close cooperation between Professional Services Service Leads, Subject Matter Experts and Senior Managers

  • Attend conferences, trade shows, speaking engagements, and other industry events to promote the Verizon brand in APAC.

  • Liaise with external industry professionals to gain and maintain a current understanding of the market and possible vendor partnerships and opportunities.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cyber Security or related field or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Six or more years of experience in information security and/or IT risk management with a focus on cyber defence controls as part of an Enterprise Security Architecture.
  • Knowledgeof security protocols, cryptography, authentication, authorization and Enterprise Security Architectures.
  • Good working knowledge of current IT risks and experience implementing security solutions.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of project management and the relevant methodologies.
  • Experience in business and service development.
  • Bilingual fluency in Japanese and English

Even better if you have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as business acumen and a commercial outlook.
  • Additional industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA etc.
  • Ability to interact with a broad cross-section of personnel to explain and enforce security measures.
  • Ability to establish & prioritise goals/objectives & deliver against them.
  • Ability to lead by establishing trust relationships with key stakeholders within Verizon, the client environment, and externally.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with confidence at C-Level.
