What you’ll be doing...

Responsible for leading a team of project managers and delivering projects in end-to-end implementation of engineering projects within the construction, DC Power, AC power HVAC (eating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning) and BMS (Building Management Systems) areas. Comfortable working with all organizations within Verizon. You will think strategically and make business decisions while collaborating across multiple organizations which include: Engineering, Operations, Real Estate, Sales and Product. You will have the ability to think and work in a fast paced environment when approaching your delivery with a focus on resilience and energy reduction, while always working across all groups. You will have a provenrecord of working with external vendors and building relationships. You will also have responsibility for accurate budgetary reporting to Senior Management.

You will also have responsibility for leading the International Capacity Management team for EMEA & Asia Pacific. Your team will ensure sites are available to meet Verizon’s expansion needs and direct installation requests from external sales requests as well as expansion and new product launches within the Verizon group.

  • Managing with leadership qualities to effectively direct deployment activities for the integration and commercial success of new product and services projects.
  • Initiating milestones, timelines and direction, aligning people with determination, and willingness to take action and follow through.
  • Developing and executing comprehensive project scope documents, developing deployment plans, coordinating multiple teams, managing risk, and presenting status and initiatives to executive leadership.
  • Adapting and driving new agile development processes and methods across your group and the Verizon organization.
  • Assess all network & colocation Installation requests via the Verizon Work Force Manager power, space & cooling vetting system
  • Ensure all M&E records are fully accurate and updated
  • Calculate power and cooling capacities for both network & colocation at all sites
  • Assessing future forecasting and historical tending data to ensure sites are always available
  • Manage overall technical building site power, space and cooling capacity to ensure that availability is not exceeded
  • Drive energy efficiency towards meetings Verizon’s Carbon reduction targets
  • Ensuring that you team members are fiscally accurate when managing multiple budgets.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • A degree in Mechanical or Electircal engineering or equivalent or four or more years of work experience.
  • Eight or more years of relevant work experience in Construction or M&E design.
  • Willingness to travel in the country and International is an added advantage
  • Experience in leadership roles in technology, Construction, M&E management.
  • Experience in Telecom/Information Systems technologies.
  • Experience managing large cross-functional or enterprise-wide projects.
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies as it relates to project management.
  • A PMI, Agile Certified Practitioner, and/or Project management/Scrum certification.
  • Experience using the full suite of Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
  • Experience in other Network teams a plus: Maintenance Engineering, Device Evaluation, HQ Planning, etc.
  • Experience in Contracts including contract negotiations

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Strong leadership, problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence organizational direction and departmental initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including: written, oral, listening, speaking, internal/external, formal/informal, vertical/horizontal; Negotiating – reaching agreements; Problem Solving – problem definition and decision making; Influencing – getting things done.
  • Demonstrated ability working with all leadership levels to influence organizational direction and departmental initiatives.
  • Proven track record of successful project execution.
  • Experience leading people or teams.
  • Knowledge and ability to understand a project’s technical breadth (e.g. call flow, billing, provisioning, operations, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal direct management supervision.
