What you’ll be doing...

Use Fiber Inventory Management (FIM) Tools, 3GIS, & Google Earth Pro to inventory, and document routes for underground and aerial fiber optic cable in private and public right of ways from both desktop reviews and construction as-built.

  • View aerial imagery, websites and other documentation to locate cell towers, customer sites, easements to assist the Engineering team.
  • Manage the conversion of source data into drawings (e.g. Shape/KML/KMZ files) showing placement of existing & new fiber optic cable in various markets.
  • Ensure fiber optic database is current and accurate by inputting data regarding location of fibers and fiber enclosures into the Fiber Inventory data management system.
  • Participate in design and review of new Fiber Mapping enhancements and integrations.
  • Manage projects with specific focus on deliverables, tasks and due dates, conveying timelines, risks, delays and impacts to management as required.
  • Recognize vulnerabilities in network infrastructure and makes calculated financial decisions to implement remedies that enhance reliability within budget limitations.
  • Prepares detailed cost analysis, project specs, spend forecasts, route mapping, requisitions, and business justifications.
  • Determine scope, budget and schedules, then monitors and controls expenses within allotted budget.
  • Coordinate engineering construction activities with contractors, developers, municipalities and consultants.
  • Process reports, vendor invoices, material receipts, and other administrative duties.
  • Provide oversight and management of multiple construction vendors.
  • Manage contractor/vendor resources for Construction New Build, Maintenance/BAU Activities.

What we’re looking for...

You are familiar with outside plant engineering practices. You enjoy analyzing problems and having the autonomy to select and implement the right solutions. While you work well independently, you are also a great team player and enjoy leading colleagues and coordinating efforts to ensure best outcomes. No stranger to a fast-paced environment, you manage multiple assignments and competing priorities while staying focused on important deadlines. As a strong communicator, you can quickly build relationships with a diverse range of people and explain complex technical issues in a way that everyone can understand.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.
  • A valid driver's license.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical/science/mathematics fields.
  • Experience with windows-based programs and corporate database systems.
  • Experience with CAD, and MS Excel/MS Access, 3GIS, Google Earth.
