What you’ll be doing...

The Priority Services Systems Administrator is responsible for the planning, design, implementation, and support of mission critical enterprise systems specific to Verizon network architecture. The Priority Services Systems Administrator serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for various operating and database systems; analyzes feasibility of system and database requirements; develops system and database specifications; recommends the design and configuration of applications; assist project teams with technical issues in the Initiation and Planning phases of our standard Project Management Methodology including the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy.

  • Perform both operating and database system functions such as: apply data fixes, configure debug logs, gathering statistics, execute remote diagnostic utilities, and collect logs and traces.
  • Review test results daily and proactively identify and address any service issues.
  • Work with internal and external Verizon organizations coordinating and troubleshooting network events.
  • Manage all aspects of network test applications, which include operations, administration, infrastructure, security, system design, and vendor management.
  • Work with internal and external Verizon organizations to ensure applications’ security compliance adhere to Verizon’s security requirements.
  • Work with internal and external Verizon organizations to deploy, upgrade, and decommission servers.

What we’re looking for...

You have knowledge to serve as a technical expert for complex systems with knowledge and diverse skills in technologies across multiple vendors to include design and architecture of various infrastructure platforms. You are interested in applying practical skills and experience across many application and infrastructure products, technologies, and services at an enterprise level to enable high quality service delivery to NS/EP users. You enjoy the opportunity to improve existing service and capabilities in support of NS/EP users.

You'll need to have:

  • Associate's degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
  • Willingness to be on-call.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Government Sponsored Security Clearance.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree in Engineering or Computer Science (or related discipline) with 3 or more years of related experience in the technology industry.
  • Technical experience in voice & data/transport networks.
  • Experience with voice network operations
  • Experiencewith TDM and VoIP voice networks.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP protocols.
  • Experience with a multitude of OS tools and utilities for managing, monitoring and troubleshooting Windows infrastructure.
  • Experience with MS Access, FileMaker and/or other relational database management systems.
  • Customer service and interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
