What you’ll be doing...

You’ll be responsible for CORE Engineering work, which include reviewing and managing Reimbursable jobs related to Make Ready work coming from 3rd Party applications. The job will include maintaining the core copper network and building FTTP predominantly in MDU Greenfields, Pole and Conduit Make Ready Project Management, CWOs (General and Damage), 3rd party licensing, customer complaints, interfacing with Operations (CXM and I&R), responding to Held For Cable and Held For Fiber requests, Risk Management and Legal Issues, and vendor management. You will also be engaged into the Make Ready process in order to gain an understanding of how the processes in Make Ready have an impact to the District workload along with opportunity for new revenue. You will be interacting with various groups within Engineering along with some Operation teams in order to complete the work prints designed. The job will entail having an understanding of OSP Telephony (especially underground conduits and poles), along with communicating across teams. There will be some circumstances where communication will be with the customer.

  • Working in various OSP systems (vBuild, CCP, LFACS, WAFA, Dexter, Planning Portal, NJUN’s, NK71).
  • Coordinating with Scheduling and Operations to determine proper completion timeline.
  • Collaborating with Engineering peers and customers to determine scope of work for design prints.
  • Creating winning outcomes for both us and our customers.

What we’re looking for...

You want to learn and help improve processes around OSP Engineering. You thrive on working with peers who are already involved in the Outside Plant Engineering arena along with communicating with your Lead Engineers on the team. You can thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities strong analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to make network design decisions based on recommended Engineering Guidelines and design criteria.
You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to conduct field visits in Urban environment.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical/ science/ mathematics or related fields.
  • Experience in Outside Plant Engineering, I&M, Construction, and or Empire City Subway processes.
  • Experience with windows-based programs and corporate database systems.
  • Experience with MS Excel/MS Access & PowerPoint.
  • Analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to interact with customers effectively in order to communicate and explain our service order process and the method of delivery.
