What you’ll be doing...

Driving continuous improvement is what we are all about and you will help us by providing telecommunication processes and complex technical support for our network engineering and operations organization. As one of our foremost domain authorities, you will define our OSS strategy and lead the development and implementation of internal process and standardization initiatives to make us better.

  • Leading projects to create and implement ground breaking technical solutions intended to improve efficiency.
  • Providing support for the enterprise-wide integration of standard processes.
  • Preparing detailed cost analysis and justification for technical application initiatives.
  • Leading UAT testing efforts.
  • Working with senior leaders to coordinate training for impacted organizations.
  • Develop network architecture leveraging standards based technologies and innovative methods to deliver the same.
  • Create and maintain detailed architecture documentation/drawings
  • Develop 3-5 year network roadmaps for engineering teams.
  • Drive the teams to deliver on multiple strategic initiatives and provide necessary technical guidance to support the initiative.
  • Develop strong relationships with multiple teams that work and support the VGMN network.
  • Accountable for strategic project or program results. Exercises considerable judgement in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for achieving end results.
  • Lead and participate in the design discussions with various cross functional teams (Planning, Operations, End User teams and Project Management teams); provide feedback and influence the implementation strategies that adhere to the VGMN standards.
  • Provide technical leadership with Verizon team(s) and external vendor(s). Drive the development of new processes, techniques, and determine implementation details of applicable standards.
  • Provide feedback and responses related to architecture. May also function as a tier III/IV technical support for operations team.
  • Lead the engineers within the team to provide technical guidance and knowledge of the networks in various functional areas.
  • Develop requirements and guidelines for proactive capacity management on various platforms for performance monitoring, as well as capping guidelines for router platforms
  • Develop test requirements for any new technologies, platforms, and features introduced in VGMN.
  • Participate and provide data on the compliance & security review meetings.

Participate in the industry standards meetings, workshops &/ conferences

What we’re looking for...

Data drives our business and analytical tools allow us to have the ability to visualize and make sense of its meaning and intent. Having the ability to utilize current tools and applications as well as the capability to quickly adapt to new tools and applications will be critical to successfully implementing the needed solution to our business.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Applied Statistics or six or more years of work experience.
  • Six or six or more years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with a programming or scripting language (e.g. SQL, JavaScript, Python, ) and relational database (e.g. Oracle)
  • Experience in Tableau and/or Splunk business intelligence/visualization software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Applied Statistics
  • Splunk deployment, custom application development and infrastructure planning experience.
  • Splunk certified power-user or higher certification.
  • Experience in Spotfire.
  • Experience with Hadoop cluster utilizing map/reduce including Pig, Hbase, Hive, Spark, Storm, and Squoop.
  • Experience in Statistical analysis language.
  • Experience in a Data Analyst and/or Software Development role.
  • Experience in Data mining, preparation and modeling.
  • Experience with Data preparation tool.
  • Verizon Network Engineering and Operations experience
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work independently.
