What you’ll be doing...

The VoIP Applications Technical Support Engineer IV is responsible for on-boarding and operational for the Global Ribbon (Sonus) platforms. Responsible for purpose based application hardware/software and applications within the VCP (Verizon Cloud Platform.

  • Identifying deficiencies and quickly providing solutions in a manner to help improve the reliability and add operation efficiencies in the VoIP network.
  • Direct support of Network Management Centers to address and mitigate high level anomalies encountered throughout the Global Ribbon networks and supported devices.
  • Embracing agile methodologies and showing an aptitude for being able to adapt and forward thinking.
  • Leading the effort to transform the way we do operations by promoting DevOps mindset.
  • Reviewing alarming and network specific logs to proactively identify areas of concern that could potentially impact VoIP traffic.
  • Performing hardware/software upgrades on purpose based and virtual based Ribbon applications.
  • Managing the overall maintenance and upkeep on the DSCIP/ISCIP/fGNI/fXO Ribbon Sonus networks, including the DSI/EMS/PSX/SGX/SBC7k/SBC9K/GSX9K.
  • Supporting Ribbon (Genband) VzB/VzT/fGNI network, including C20/CS2K/SST/G5/G6/G9/USP/Avya 8600.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in Ribbon (Sonus) VoIP elements and networks.
  • Experience in supportability of Verizon’s global VoIP network.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience in both Genband and Sonus hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of internal Verizon maintenance processes.
  • Knowledge related to the fGNI/fXO Sonus networks.
  • Component level knowledge of work VoIP devices.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to quickly analyze situations, identify problems and provide solutions.
  • Ability to drive projects to completion.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
