What you’ll be doing...

The primary goal of this position is to support the global transitions and implementations for managed security customers and will be responsible for design, implementation, and maintenance of load balancer /application delivery controller infrastructure using F5 Big-IP LTM/GTM/APM.

You will collaborate with network engineering and project management to create and implement custom solutions that adhere as closely as possible to existing design standards. You will provide research and analysis for planning, organizing, and managing project related network security tasks. In addition to the design and consultation responsibilities, this role will also perform implementation and delivery of load balancing and security technologies including refresh and migration activities, support the operations teams on escalated incidents, and support off-hours maintenance activities for release management and changes associated with assigned projects.

  • Lead global transition and supporting global transformation initiatives for managed security customers.
  • Serveas the network security design authority on customer-requested programs.
  • Collaborate with Network Engineering and Project Management to create and implement custom solutions that adhere as closely as possible to existing Design Standards.
  • Conduct expert level research and analysis for planning, organizing, and managing corporate-wide network security functions.
  • Perform ongoing performance, availability, and capacity optimization as defined by service.
  • Give presentations via training sessions, web pages, or 1-to-1 training to the floor engineers on designs that are being implemented.
  • Translate functional business requirements into a technical solution that conforms to global design standards.
  • Research developments in their assigned technology disciplines, determines business requirements, proposes changes, and contributes migration and logical implementation plans as needed.
  • Represent Verizon's managed security services in technical discussions with the customer.
  • Develop lab scenarios to mock user environments and test components of proposed solutions.
  • Provideinput into the security technology plan for the organization, and ensure that plans for their assigned technology discipline integrate effectively with other aspects of the technical infrastructure.
  • Deliver detailed project documentation to both the customer and operations that fully describes new implementations and is used as the primary reference for day-to-day management.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot all vendor provided tools and provide training on the offering to junior engineers.
  • Responsible for the protection of Verizon customer proprietary network information and Verizon information assets.
  • Lead physical, virtual, and cloud-based Design and Implementation activities related to legacy security infrastructure transformations.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Fouror more years of F5 design, implementation, and configuration experience.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and supporting Enterprise Gateway environments that include two or more of the following technologies: Global and Local load balancing (F5: LTM, GTM, Viprion VCMP, and BigIQ; Citrix Netscaler). Remote Access (F5: APM; Palo Alto, Fortinet, ASA/Firepower, Pulse Secure). Firewalls/WAFs (F5: ASM/AFW, Versa, Palo Alto, Fortinet, ASA/Firepower, Check Point, Versa NGFW). Proxy and AV solutions (Bluecoat, Cisco WSA, Zscaler). Enterprise Management Administration (Fortimanager, Panorama, Cisco Security Manager, Provider-1).
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Versa SDWAN, UTM firewall experience: design, build, and implement. Versa Director, Analytics, and controllers.
  • Experience working in 24 x 7 centers with complex, high transaction, high availability environments.
  • Experience with networking technologies, eg. Cisco routers and switches.
  • Technical hands-on experience with both physical and network/host level security.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to team within and outside of the operations group.
  • A strong, multidiscipline, operations and implementations background with emphasis on supporting business critical environments.
  • System knowledge including ESP, ETMS, SMARTS, Sev1, and Assure1.
  • In depth knowledge of external services environments including SSL certificate exchange, Remote access solutions, and Business to Business interconnects.
  • Understand the implications and impact that proposed architectural changes will have on the business (to technical and nontechnical audiences).
  • Ability to communicate managed services impact of design decisions that deviate from standards.
  • F5 Certified TMOS Administrator (CA), Certified Technical Specialist (CTS): LTM/GTM/ASM/APM/iRules.
  • Fortinet Network Security Expert (FNSE) 4+.
  • Palo Alto Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE).
  • Cisco Certified Network Adminstrator (CCNA); Professional CCNP-Security.
  • Linux/Unix skills & scripting.
  • Ideal candidate will have strong understanding of industry trends in all areas of Information Security
