What you’ll be doing...

This position will be supporting a custom Verizon built secure high performance wide area network for a US Government program. You will be required to have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance.

You will be the primary acceptance test engineer that will be responsible for leading the effort for implementing and performing network performance testing to meet customer SLAs for acceptance. You will be required to develop and document test methodologies for meeting customer requirements. You utilize knowledge of testing methodologies including RFC Y.1564 and RFC 6349 as well as using various vendor testing platforms. The position will also work with other team members to complete various lab testing.

  • Gathering complex customer requirements.
  • Designing solutions.
  • Proving the solution viability by documenting user stories and test cases.
  • Building lab environments.
  • Running test cases.
  • Execution and development of Method of Procedure (MOP) and file creation, review and implementation.
  • Create and maintain detailed architecture documentation/drawings
  • Lead the engineers within the team to provide technical guidance and knowledge of the networks in various functional areas.
  • Develop requirements and guidelines for proactive capacity management on various platforms for performance monitoring, as well as capping guidelines for router platforms
  • Writing whitepapers and delivering presentations in response to customer requirements/interest in new technologies/products in support of customer networks.

What we’re looking for...

Your technical skills are top notch, and you are known for digging into the details to find the best solutions. You know how to get to the bottom of your customers’ needs, and how to manage your partners’ expectations. Talking to people comes very naturally to you and you have an ability to communicate complex information in a way that people understand – whether verbal or written.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of network testing methods such as RFC Y.1564, 2544, 1731, and 6349.
  • Experience with using testing tools such as IPerf3 and scripting tests.
  • Experience with Linux OS platforms/applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain government sponsored security clearance.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% or less.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree.
  • Experience in designing and implementing complex WAN solutions.
  • Experience with Lab Testing.
  • Active US Government security clearance.
  • Certification(s) such as: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE.
  • Hardware skills: Cisco, Juniper.
  • Software skills: IOS, IOS-XE, ASA.
  • Test Application(s) experience: Spirent, Viavi, Anritsu, Visio, IXIA, IPerf, Nuttcp.
  • Strong core networks - Internet and MPLS, WAN Optimization.
  • Documentation skills: Visio, G-Suite, Jive, and/or MS Office suite.
  • Knowledge of IP Networking Knowledge of Protocol Analysis, Packet Capture, Wireshark, NetScout, Fluke, T-Berd and/or other Fiber test tools.
  • Experience in the telecom industry focused on technology. Routers, switches, IP routing.
  • In-depth working knowledge of Frame Relay, MPLS, ATM, TCP/IP, VPN, and IP Telephony.
