What you’ll be doing...

This position will be supporting a custom Verizon built secure high performance wide area network for a US Government program. This position will require the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret level clearance.

This position will be the Senior level Lifecycle Engineer that will be responsible for leading the effort for installation and performing implementation of the custom network to meet customer SLAs for acceptance. This position manages the interrelationships between the various products and the infrastructure systems. This position utilizes extensive knowledge of Cisco and various networking routing protocols including but not limited to MACsec, TCP/IP, BGP, MP-BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IPv4, IPv6, L2VPN, L3VPN, SIP, E-line and other advanced LAN/WAN technologies and concepts. Working with circuits greater than 40 gigs. The candidate will be responsible forinstallation of rack system in data center to include writing and implementing of power, wiring and security requirements in data centers. Communicateseffectively with and delegation to the personnel performing the installation in various remote data centers at the same time.

Things you will be doing:

  • Gathering complex customer requirements.
  • Design, implement and support solutions involving, but not limited to, WAN, LAN, Data Analytics, Security, solutions.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and communicate network capacity and performance with the objective of driving improvements to customer's network.
  • Responsible for maintaining customer network documentation such as solution design document, record of change, and network diagrams.
  • Provide 4th level incident support for customers.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient and timely completion of projects.
  • Implementing the solution viability documented by the Architecture and test team.
  • Execution and development of Method of Procedure (MOP) and file creation, review and implementation.
  • Create and maintain detailed architecture documentation/drawings.
  • Lead the engineers within the team to provide technical guidance and knowledge of the networks in various functional areas.
  • Develop requirements and guidelines for proactive capacity management on various platforms for performance monitoring, as well as capping guidelines for router platforms
  • Writing whitepapers and delivering presentations in response to customer requirements/interest in new technologies/products in support of customer networks.
  • Submitting system for Management takeover by NOC team.
  • Responsible for the protection of Verizon customer proprietary network information and Verizon information assets.

What we’re looking for...

What you will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or eight or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of large customer network, design and implementation.
  • Experience with configuring Cisco Enterprise level router, Fortinet Firewalls and Gigamon Appliances.
  • Experience with writing MOPS and SOW for large scale system installation and changes.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain government sponsored security clearance.
  • Willing to travel up to 25% as required by business needs.

  • Experience in designing and implementing complex WAN solutions Proficient at Lab Testing.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Certification(s) such as: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, Fortinet NSE
  • Hardware skills:Cisco, Fortinet, Gigimon and various security/monitoring systems
  • Software skills: IOS, IOS-XE, ASA, NX-OS, Fortinet
  • Core networks experience - Internet and MPLS, WAN Optimization.
  • Architecture Skills.
  • Documentation skills: Visio, G-Suite, and/or MS Office suite.
  • Skills in the following: Data and IP Services (MPLS, VoIP, VPN), Managed Network Services (LAN, WAN, SDN), Managed Security Solutions, Data Center.
  • Ability to discusstechnical requirements.
  • Knowledge of IP Networking including Virtual Private Cloud, VPN, SDN, DNS, Load-balancing, and Firewalls.
  • Knowledge of Protocol Analysis, Packet Capture, Wireshark, NetScout, Fluke, T-Berd and other Fiber test tools.
  • Project management and process improvement experience.
  • Routing & Switching configuration experience with Cisco platforms
  • Experience with the TCP/IP protocol suite aligning with OSI model
  • Protocol Knowledge - BGP, OSPFv2/v3, IS-IS, Segment Routing, QoS, MPLS, Ethernet,
  • Preferred hands on experience with IPv6 (Addressing, Subnetting, Troubleshooting)
  • Leadership capabilities to successfully achieve measurable results.
  • Experience working with data networking gear and troubleshooting data networking problems involving: TCP/IP, BGP, MP-BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IPv4, IPv6, L2VPN, L3VPN, SIP, and other advanced LAN/WAN technologies and concepts.
