What you’ll be doing...

You’ll coordinate the creation of strategic marketing plans for the inside sales organization in the public sector in collaboration with sales leadership in Verizon Business Group (VBG). In this role, your job will also be to drive detailed segmentation work to ensure we’re capturing key underserved customer groups through our marketing campaigns across all public sector segments. You’ll collaborate with groups across the shared marketing functions to drive programs for each segment and iterate quarter over quarter to ensure business objectives are being met. Marketing plans and activities will include message development, product launches, demand generation campaigns and thought leadership activities that build awareness, generate leads and deliver measurable results for our Public Sector Inside Sales organization.

  • Develop segment-specific marketing plans in support of public sector’s business objectives aligned with the overarching VBG marketing objectives by working closely with sales, sales ops, product, strategy and other groups.
  • Engage with the shared marketing teams to execute marketing programs, identify the most appropriate marketing tactics such as advertisements, digital marketing, CRM, speaking engagements, messaging or other, and gather and distill feedback on those activities.
  • Work with Verizon’s agencies and media partners to develop campaigns, creative materials and thought-leading content for federal, state and local public safety audiences.
  • Plan, write and execute targeted email marketing and social media campaigns that support Public Sector inside sales objectives.
  • Understand the competitive landscape in order to build targeted marketing plans and launch solutions appropriately.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to obtain research and provide input to pricing, product management and product marketing, as well as other organizations on how to position Verizon for success among public sector audience, specifically, K-12/e-rate audience.
  • Work with other functional teams to track and report on marketing activities, including outbound campaigns, demand/lead generation, funnel generation, MQLs, SQLs, and marketing influenced opportunities.
  • Review and recommend sales enablement tools such as presentations, ROI Calculators, programs in a box, training, white papers, and gather and distill feedback on those activities.
  • Drive customer segmentation efforts based on customer profiles and data gathered in marketing and other customer-facing teams, leverage quantitative and qualitative insights.
  • Analyze segment pipeline volume, performance and forecasts to identify areas of needed marketing support.
  • Develop and implement pipeline acceleration programs jointly with shared marketing teams.
  • Work with the CMI organization to maintain segment-specific buyer journey maps, personas and other key research as a reference on the needs of public sector customers.
  • Communicate with business unit leadership on marketing activities and associated results and KPIs.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Four or more years of experience in government sales or marketing.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master’s degree in business or related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a proven ability to communicate with senior business leaders.
  • Experience in thought-leadership, demand generation, sales enablement, integrated marketing campaign development, social media, preferably involving complex organizations requiring influence that extends outside the marketing realm.
  • Experience allocating and managing budgets and resources against strategic priorities.
  • Knowledge of government contracting market for technology and telecommunications services.
  • Experience communicating cross-functionally.
  • Experience influencing key stakeholders across complex organizations.
  • Experience with Verizon and competitors’ offerings to position Verizon as the trusted partner for public sector agencies.
