What you’ll be doing...

Verizon’s Cloud Engineering & Enablement team is looking for DevOps and Cloud Support Engineers. You will be playing a key role in Supporting and architecting the DevOps/Testing platform Tools on Cloud along with enabling self-service, innovative solutions and customer support. Expertise in Cloud, Devops Tools, SRE, Scripting and Engineering Support with excellent testing background and communication skills.

  • Ensure that products and services meet the established standards set by the company.
  • Maintain strong overall quality control of products made by the company adhering to reliability, performance and customer expectation.
  • Develop quality engineering standards and company processes and Create reports documenting errors and issues for fixing.
  • Taking ownership of customer issues reported for Devops/Testing tools and seeing problems through to resolution within SLA.
  • Researching, diagnosing, troubleshooting and identifying solutions to resolve devops/testing tools related issues.
  • Building tools and required infrastructure in public cloud providers (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, etc).
  • Developing automation and orchestration playbooks/scripts, blueprints, and/or workflows related to service deployments
  • Enhance, Expand and Augment the devops tool umbrella to stay on top of latest trends.
  • Participating in design review of new infrastructure, and new product/tool development.
  • Participating in devops tool analysis, creates proof of concept models, and makes recommendations to support the tools selection process.
  • Ensuring tool compliance to Verizon security protocols.
  • Generating actionable metrics to measure the performance of the infrastructure tools, frameworks and other systems that support the entire engineering and release.
  • Engaging with vendors on a regular basis to understand product upgrades and new features.
  • Proactively identify server performance improvements, devise upgrade plans, and execute those plans in a timely manner.
  • Building intrinsic connect with user community and understand the business needs.
  • Connecting with external devops user community through meetups and forums to understand the best practices and share common solutions that have paved way for user experience.
  • Incidence management and root cause analysis.
  • Coordination and communication within the team and with customers.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Four or more years of experience in supporting DevOps/Testing tools, Cloud, SRE and automation.
  • Proven work experience as a DevOps Support Engineer or similar role.
  • In-Depth Understanding of Testing tools like qTest, Tosca, Jmeter, Selenium, etc.
  • Experience in Understanding of Code Quality analysis tools like sonarqube, checkmarx, etc.
  • Experience with the Linux operating system (kernel vs. user space, scheduling, bypass drivers, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience in Devops tools like JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, Gitlab, etc.
  • Experience analyzing test results on application functionality, database impacts, errors or bugs, usability, users stories and/use cases/requirements for validity and feasibility.
  • Experience in Monitoring/Alerting tools and platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, Pingdom, etc.
  • Experience with SQL, PostGres and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience in CI/CD and workflow automation.
  • Hands-on experience in AWS (Lambda, Ec2, ELB, S3, EFS, RDS, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, IAM, Route53. ELB, Device form etc.)
  • LDAP, SSO, Active Directory support\Implementation experience.
  • Experience engineering or operating infrastructure-as-a-service platforms such as AWS, Google Compute Engine, Azure, Soft Layer, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience with a scripting/coding language(s) - Perl, Python, Groovy, Ruby, shell.
  • Demonstrated experience with a configuration management tool a plus - Puppet, Ansible, Chef.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Basic Understanding of NLU / NLP.
  • AWS Operations Certifications.
  • Experience in containers technology (Docker, rkt, cri-o, etc).
  • High reasoning aptitude and ability to quickly understand complex operating environments.
