Job Description

As the leader in the Network & Technology Services Group of GTS organization in Verizon India, the leader (Director-Sys Engrg) will be responsible for supporting NTS services & applications. The leader will be responsible for building a highly motivated and talented team, coaching and mentoring them to deliver high quality products and services. S/he will partner with business units to establish goals, influence and effectively communicate the vision set by Senior Leadership.

This person must have excellent communication, project management, and strategic thinking skills along with strong technical experience, and would report to the Managing Director at VZ India.


  • Manages multiple delivery teams with high levels of complexity and handles general management responsibilities for organizations aligned to NTS which include driving end to end delivery of functional domains of Network Planning, Network Engineering, Provisioning, Service Fulfilment, Network Assurance, Field Force Applications and Technology Transformation.

  • Adept in managing stakeholders in network organization across various business teams like Network Planning, Engineering, Products Organizations, Wireline & Wireless network & field operations teams.

  • Adept in understanding of the SaFE Agile principles, working with large teams, stakeholdering business and tech teams in running end to end Agile Release Trains, across multiple streams. And drive Cultural Transformation through SAFe, SOE, SRE and other Industry practices to bring in Innovation and efficiencies.

  • Responsible for the leadership of a work group and/or development of broad programs or projects in support of organizational strategies; communicate & translate functional/operational goals into team goals and ensure the Key priorities & KPIs are met.

  • Ability to identify synergies across delivery teams and work towards Optimizing processes and resources & Leverage CoEs/Focus groups by Facilitating collaboration and sharing of knowledge & best practices. Drive efficiency and productivity measures across the org to build efficiencies of scale.

  • To be part of the Senior Leadership team driving organizational performance and operational procedures/framework

  • Build agile teams, actively practice Dev/SecOps, and fully automate CICD pipeline.

  • Drive DevOps implementation including ideation, business case, architecture, design, stakeholder management, development, trials and delivery using industry standard processes and tools.

  • Ensures that programs/projects are delivered on time. Deliver results within budget, time, quality and strategic and tactical key performance goals.

  • Responsible for building good working relationships with the third party Vendor partners. Ability to strategize and manage vendor partners for driving the Optimized Delivery Model (ODM).

  • Align the organization on the need for ODM and leveraging right resource pools (Employees, Third Party and Vendors) to deliver results efficiently.

  • Partners with business units to establish goals, influence and effectively communicate the vision set by VLC & GTS Leadership.

  • Define resource capacity plans for all of the above applications. Responsible for management, staffing and operations; make decisions regarding hiring, promotion and disciplinary actions. Coach, train and motivate the team to achieve subject matter expertise.

  • Review the critical projects and plans on a frequent basis with the executive leadership team

  • Manage operating budget. Analyze reports and operation results, and develop action plans designed to increase productivity and operations efficiency.

  • To maintain required governance, compliances and ensure security in all aspects. Have focused attention on security. Infuse and adopt security by design approach.

  • Develop leadership qualities in the organization to achieve high performance results; drive employee satisfaction and engagement for the organization. With focus on building a strong performance management culture.

  • Contribute and drive larger organization wide initiatives to support Verizon India transformation.

What we’re looking for...

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/Master's Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology, or a related field

  • Good understanding of the Telecom Domain, with comprehensive understanding of Network OSS, BSS Stacks.

  • Possess ability to look at external environments and adapt/relook at strategies on the Business/Technology front.

  • Must have demonstrated experience in partnering with Business and IT teams at multiple levels to drive alignment and delivery of complex problems. Good understanding of SaFE Agile, SRE and Automation frameworks and practices.

  • Ability to meet timelines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, customer and team-oriented work environment.

  • Strong presentation & communication skills to communicate complex concepts effectively.

  • 10+ years of technology leadership, including solid understanding of technology selection, architecture, and full stack implementation.

  • 5+ years of telecom industry experience with a focus on large scale transformation programs & contribute to larger organization

  • 8+ years of direct people management experience, including leadership of diverse global teams.

  • Experience leading senior talent, mentoring and coaching.

  • Industry recognitions, patents & papers , participation in standards/ professional bodies.

  • A go-getter with the ability to influence, manage external stakeholders and manage the social system. And working in a multicultural, diverse & dynamic environment is required.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and stakeholder management including working with Compliance, IT Security, Cyber Security and legal teams to enable seamless employee experience within the organization.
