What you’ll be doing...

You will be part of Enterprise Risk Management, assisting with the administration of Verizon’s Enterprise Risk Management Business Intelligence program, overseeing policies, processes, people and systems, partnering with business leaders to identify and mitigate financial, operational, legal, regulatory, strategic and reputational risks. You will identify opportunities for using data analysis to enhance risk engagements and special projects for Enterprise Risk Management.

This role is designed to add value and improve operations within Enterprise Risk Management to provide data analytics, data mining, and continuous monitoring. You along with your team members will provide both advisory and analytical support by identifying, developing, documenting, or executing analytics during all relevant stages of risk engagements.

  • Gaining extensive exposure to diverse aspects of Verizon's business through risk engagements and stand-alone projects, including reporting dashboards, process automations, continuous monitoring and development of key risk indicators.
  • Assisting with the development, documentation and implementation risk management program in a manner that fulfills the mission and strategic goals of the organization while complying with regulatory guidance.
  • Assisting with the implementation of the governance, risk and compliance (GRC) tool and Integrated Risk Management technologies.
  • Using data mining results, statistical analysis and other techniques to assess the effectiveness of system controls and perform testing as needed to identify root-cause issues and formulate improvement recommendations for senior management.
  • Assisting with the development of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
  • Managing frequent, ad hoc requests from the business and stakeholders for advice/assistance regarding data mining, visualizations and self-serve analytics tools for business users.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Data Visualization, particularly creating dashboards and executive reporting (Tableau or Qlik).
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Data Analytics Computer Science, Accounting or any other related discipline.
  • Business analytical skills; ability to apply business logic to design and implement data mining techniques on large data sets.
  • Knowledge of predictive and prescriptive analytics, data mining and machine learning a plus (Alteryx, Python and R preferred).
  • Projects experience of Creative and Critical thinking.
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing.
  • Experience in the use of Teradata SQL, MS SQL server, and Oracle SQL.
  • Experience designing, developing, implementing and maintaining a database and programs to manage data analysis efforts.
  • Knowledge of working with self-serve analytics tools for business users.
  • Knowledge of the tools, technologies and practices needed to perform in-depth analysis of both structured transactional data, and semi-structured or unstructured data.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast changing environment with changing priorities and changing time constraints.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to interpret business requests and communicate findings in an intelligible manner.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of risk management methodology and factors.
