What you’ll be doing...

The Senior Creative Director - Social supports the Director of Social in the Creative Marketing Group to create breakthrough work in social channels and help bring the Verizon brand closer to culture. This includes but is not limited to: providing creative direction to the social editorial team on content calendar creative work to help generate positive impressions of the Verizon brand within social channels, and helping to create concepts that generate social content.
Responsibilities of this role include 4 core areas: team leadership, creative direction, leadership and execution, staff development, and stakeholder service.

  • Works harmoniously with others to get a job done and leads the team in a collaborative fashion.
  • Shares critical information with everyone involved in a project to produce more effective creative solutions.
  • Helps to set a tone of cooperation within the creative group and across the organization; promotes a “be of service” solution-oriented mentality across the creative team.

  • Encourages individuals to take on specific roles to deepen existing or develop new skills.
  • Gives the team proper recognition and credit for their contributions.

  • Provides creative direction and coaching while partnering with staff to accomplish creative objectives.
  • Provides creative quality control over social editorial content and execution.
  • Leads and manages the creative work of the social editorial creative team.
  • Provides brand guidance and direction to ensure consistent alignment with brand standards and brand voice.
  • Motivates the team to deliver a consistently high-level of quality as evaluated by stakeholders.
  • Understands data used to track market trends and customer actions and uses it to inform the creative work.
  • Works to improve the team’s performance by pursuing opportunities for continuous learning/feedback.
  • Constructively helps and coaches team in their professional development through informal and formal feedback sessions (i.e., performance reviews), as appropriate.
  • Guides the workload, development, and growth of direct reports.
  • Demonstrates a real sense of caring for the team’s professional and personal well-being.
  • Plans regularly scheduled one-on-one time for personal coaching and mentoring of direct reports.
  • Implements and refines conceptual development/ideation process and defines and coaches team on presentation expectations.
  • Exhibits a “can-do” approach and inspires and motivates associates to excel.
  • Fosters a team spirit that is reflective of their collective personalities.
  • Nurtures a culture that is fun to work in and helps build an open creative community.
  • Proactively addresses staff performance issues.
  • Builds strong relationships with stakeholders; perceived as a credible, trusted advisor.
  • Partners with stakeholders to achieve effective outcomes in an efficient manner.
  • Works with stakeholders to articulate creative needs concisely, yet completely.
  • Appropriately balances stakeholder desires, business requirements and marketing strategies.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Five or more years of experience as an Assistant Creative Director.
  • Experience leading and managing medium to large teams.
  • Experience as a social creative in-house, at an external agency or for a publication.
  • Knowledge of social media best practices and narrative storytelling, in both static post and video content format.
  • Strong knowledge of various social media channels, including Snapchat and TikTok.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud software.
  • Portfolio of relevant work samples.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree; preferably in Advertising, English, Journalism or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage differing viewpoints so the final product remains true to the objective.
  • Proven leadership skills to maximize team talents, and over-deliver against expectations.
  • Hands-on experience in either art direction or copywriting.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, able to articulate creative rationale that drives execution and tactics of a concept.
  • The ability to lead and mentor the team in the ideation process leveraging research, analytics and brand insights.
  • Experience in developing a team to be strong brand advocates, but also encourage new interpretations of brand standards and out-of-the-box approaches to grow brand voice / brand design to meet ever-expanding company needs.
  • Working knowledge in industry-standard software and tools such as the Adobe Creative Cloud, MS Office / G Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Workfront, etc.
  • The ability to be persuasive and/or negotiate when selling in new ideas through the organization on behalf of the team.
