What you’ll be doing...

Support all transportation activity related to fulfillment for Retail/Indirect/Consumer channel orders shipping from our outsourced Distribution Centers. Act as liaison between VZ and transportation carriers, tracking/monitoring and reporting on all Retail/Indirect/Consumer channel shipments. Analyze and identify operational and cost savings opportunities related to shipping processes and transportation. Responsible for claims reduction, enhancing customer experience order success, and reducing carrier’s time in transit. Responsible for identifying, developing and modifying transportation reports for SCM ensuring all information is accurate. Support various SCM projects related to distribution and transportation. Upon approval and need, conduct visits to distribution centers and write assessments for management that detail findings and areas of opportunity.

  • Manage transportation carriers daily to ensure all contractual service levels are met.
  • Manage new store / large customer orders and monitor shipments.
  • Facilitate calls providing the transportation carrier’s updates on order volume changes and discrepancies.
  • Ensure all orders meet the criteria required to ship successfully and support the fallout.
  • Confirm the best-cost transportation methods are arranged to meet the expected delivery times.
  • Support new customer set up/revisions in VZ and vendor systems.
  • Support carrier shipping account maintenance.
  • Maintain opening and closing store activities related to transportation.
  • Analyze and lead implementation of operational improvement processes.
  • Develop and maintain accurate weekly and monthly reporting of carrier performance, freight expenditure, ordering patterns and transportation cost for expedited shipments.
  • Develop new transportation reports to align with continually changing business directives.
  • Track and monitor transportation carrier loss/damage percentages and dollars as well as claim reimbursement
  • Conduct warehouse visits to Distribution Center to observe processes and identify opportunities for business efficiencies

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
  • Three of more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain, IE or a related field.
  • Ability to manage third party vendor management staff on daily performance issues.
  • Ability to lead projects and handle multiple tasks to meet required deadlines on time.
  • Significant experience with small parcel transportation.
  • Ability to effectively embrace change and adapts to current business needs.
  • Excellent computer skills, including all MS Office products Net Ace, SAP, ITTS and inventory systems.
  • Strong analytical background in creating and analyzing reporting trends and performance.
  • Ability to identify errors in reporting received from other departments or vendor contacts.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and follow up skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems effectively.
  • Strong customer service skills with internal customers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively throughout multiple levels of the organization.
