What you’ll be doing...

As our Municipal Engagement Partner, you will be responsible with building and developing a connection with the local community to guarantee the deployment of Verizon’s network. You’ll be in the frontlines negotiating, creating and implementing strategies to engage and educate the community. You’ll work as a trusted adviser to government agencies so that they can rely on you to make their operation run better. You will have the ability to explain to residents, constituents, and customers in a comprehensible way how complex technology can easily solve everyday problems. You will participate and present at public events by representing Verizon. You’ll be charged with moderating any community concerns and identifying cost and time effective solutions.Finally, you will be responsible for reviewing/interpreting Municipal wireless ordinances, local design guidelines and processes, and, as required, teaming up with Legal counsel to present alternatives and drive change. You will be responsible for:

  • Conducting community research to identify key groups and geographic areas for our small cell sites.
  • Participating in public outreach with local organizations and create a locally-focused message to provide support for our deployments.
  • Engaging with local advocates and organizations and working with internal groups to strategize advocacy campaigns to mitigate any concerns.
  • Resolving issues related to testing and managing deployments.
  • Escalating to legal counsel and executive management when appropriate.
  • Demonstrating civility and patience in response to opponent groups.
  • Working with various internal groups in coordinating messaging outward to the public
  • Representing Verizon, as needed, with any appeals, local planning commission or city council meetings and work with internal teams to coordinate efforts in preparation for the same.

You’ll be doing work that matters alongside other talented people, transforming the way people, businesses and things connect with each other. You’ll be in a fast-paced environment where you’ll need to demonstrate quick-thinking strategic and problem-solving skills. You’ll need to show strong leadership by developing and implementing creative strategies and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience working on external facing project requiring public speaking and contract negotiating.
  • Experience with reviewing municipal ordinances, design standards, and telecommunications law.
  • Experience with Wireless site development, permitting, and appeals
  • Experience in reviewing various real estate documents like site plans, surveys, and similar documents.
  • Experience managing complex projects.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • A valid Driver's license.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree in Urban Planning, Law, Public Administration, Communications.
  • Polished presentation skills; experience at presenting at larger gatherings (in person or virtual).
  • Strong and proven ability to be able to influence others.
  • Strong negotiations skills;Strong communications skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Experience working with community organizations and developing advocacy strategies.
  • Bilingual - Spanish.
