Verizon Connect is guiding a connected world on the go by automating, optimizing and revolutionizing the way people, vehicles and things move through the world. Our full suite of industry-defining solutions and services put innovation, automation and connected data to work for customers and help them be safer, more efficient and more productive. Our fleet management products span across web, mobile, and hardware and enable our customers to track their vehicles and equipment in real time. Lots of companies talk about the Internet of Things, we’ve been building it for years.

We’re looking for a Lead UX Researcher to join our global Experience Team. You will be working closely with product teams and contribute throughout the entire product development lifecycle. Collaboration is key to our success, and user research is one of many key players in creating a better connected product experience. You’ll be expected to leverage a variety of qualitative and quantitative techniques to capture and share research often, and to partner with teams to make sure findings are actionable. We encourage a detail-oriented approach and a sense of autonomy, as you will be expected to think critically and guide your stakeholders through research insights.

You will be part of an extensive mentorship network, coached not only by your manager but by multiple talented, experienced Researchers who will inspire you to do your best work and help you to progress in your career. As a lead, you’ll also be a key part of mentoring your fellow Researchers.

  • Lead research strategy for a particular area of the product, and work proactively with cross-functional leaders in your area to develop a strategic research roadmap.
  • Help the cross-functional team in your area of the product to become experts on your users, the jobs they need to complete, and their valued outcomes.
  • Plan and conduct strategic research in your product area to ensure we understand the right problems to solve for customers.
  • Identify and plan for tactical research to investigate optimal solutions during the design process.
  • Use research insights to establish product-market fit (e.g., Lean Product Playbook) and prioritize research opportunities in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Support designers and other team members to conduct their own usability testing and customer conversations as part of our democratization of research.
  • Empower your fellow researchers to break out of silos, socialize research across Verizon Connect, and raise the bar on quality of research work.

What we’re looking for...

You’re an established Researcher with demonstrated. You have a curious and analytical mind and you know how to ask the right questions and get meaningful data to answer them. You’re someone who knows the importance of collaboration, whether with other Researchers or with Product and Engineering Professionals within an integrated team. You are able to quickly assess company needs to develop and execute a research plan. You identify key research questions and objectives in partnership with Product, Design, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in HCI, Human Factors, Psychology, Anthropology, Design Research or a related, user-centered domain.
  • Experience leading UX research within a product team.
  • Experience planning and conducting qualitative user research studies from start to finish.
  • Familiarity with sampling/recruiting, contextual inquiry, field research, service design, user testing, in-depth interviews, surveys, and focus groups.
  • Data analysis experience, leveraging both qualitative and quantitative skill sets.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master’s degree in HCI, Human Factors, Psychology, Anthropology, Design Research or a related, user-centered domain.
  • Experience in Lean UX or working with a continuous discovery model.
  • Experience managing multiple research vendors.
  • Experience across a variety of users, products, and solutions, including hardware products.
  • Experience in a B2B environment conducting research with enterprise business customers.
  • Experience conducting research with a global customer base.
