What you’ll be doing...

As an Engineering Lead, you will support all strategy driven by the head of the new sensor business in Verizon’s New Business Incubation unit. You will be supporting the new business, product, and technical capability inside NBI, which will leverage Verizon’s 5G network and Intelligent Edge Network (Mobile Edge Compute) to power orchestration for the autonomous future indoors and outdoors including support for robotic sensor arrays, fixed and mobile IoT both indoors and outdoors. The Engineering Lead will support engineering of solutions and application working closely with Sensor Intelligence Team to drive tactical implementation, to achieve our business goals and objectives based on the businesses overall charter & strategy. This position plays a vital role in assisting solution architect team and Product Manager for the new business unit and also creating new solutions applying computer vision and by leveraging Verizon’s 5G network and MEC architecture.

  • Work with business strategy, customers, and sales to take Sensor Intelligence based products from concept to production.
  • Work with other technology partners and companies to assess and bring their products to our portfolio.
  • Work with the team to find the optimal design, implementation and features.
  • Develop use cases and outcome based design leveraging sensor fusion, computer vision, AI/ML approach.
  • Build and scale NBI’s Sensor Fusion team to deliver transformational revenue growth and product leadership.
  • Establish and execute the strategy for NBI’s sensor fusion capabilities and business opportunities across the diverse technology businesses already in place and the new ones to come.
  • Align the diverse sensor ingestion and processing approaches within NBI to execute a unified sensor fusion strategy designed to enable the business strategy.

***This is a Work From Home Role with occasional in-person meetings and trainings. ***

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field or four or more years of work experience.
  • Streaming video expert for the team and have a deep understanding of building highly scalable code that could be utilized under heavy internet concurrency including “video walls”.
  • Experience developing Java micro services running under container orchestrators like Kubernetes.
  • Experience developing Java micro services running on any of the popular/existing cloud providers.
  • Experience working with database systems, both relational and NoSQL.
  • Deep understanding of underlying sensor components such as data ingestion, camera technologies and big data
  • Video Management Software, Video Analytics and Sensors experience.
  • Application integration and networking experience.
