What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is seeking an experienced and talented attorney to handle a range of compliance and governance matters in support of the business unit serving global enterprise companies, small and medium businesses, and public sector customers (Verizon Business Group, or VBG). You who will report to the Senior Managing Associate General Counsel for VBG compliance, must be a skilled and lawyer with excellent judgment who can work with colleagues across the Legal Department and the business to ensure that Verizon complies with all applicable laws and policies and acts with the highest ethical standards.

  • Work with other stakeholders, including the Verizon Security, Information Security, Ethics, and Internal Audit teams, to conduct investigations into alleged compliance issues involving Verizon employees, partners, and third parties.
  • Conduct assessments and develop processes and controls to ensure compliance with the Verizon Code of Conduct and a range of regulatory requirements and industry standards, including those relating to privacy.
  • Counsel business clients on compliance issues that arise in the course of operating a diverse and global business.
  • Develop compliance communications and training.

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager
  • J.D. and six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Bar membership in good standing and the ability to obtain necessary licenses.
  • Experience at a law firm, government, or in-house position in a compliance and/or litigation role
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have one or more of the following

  • Extensive experience handling compliance investigations and/or complex litigation
  • A proven ability to independently and confidently resolve complex legal issues, often under challenging deadlines
  • A proven ability to effectively manage a diverse, high-volume docket in a timely manner with high attention to detail
  • A proven ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders across the Legal Department and the company as a whole
  • A keen interest in developing a deep understanding of Verizon’s business
  • Familiarity with privacy laws
