What you’ll be doing...

As a full-time member of the Verizon Enterprise Services security team, the Security Assurance Principal Consultant will be responsible for assessing the cybersecurity monitoring programs of Verizon clients and making recommendations to enhance and mature them. The role is primarily client facing and requires the following skills: knowledge of cybersecurity operations for detecting and responding to attacks, threats, and incidents (including tools, processes, and SIEMs); knowledge of cybersecurity standards such as NIST, ISO 27k, and PCI; relationship management; and communication skills.

  • Provide security consulting oversight and strategic/tactical advisory for the client engagement by helping the client improve their overall cybersecurity posture and reduce their cyber risk.
  • Partner with clients and stakeholders to define the scope of each engagement and deliverable, the anticipated outcome(s), and identify constraints or issues that could impact the engagement.
  • Lead the Verizon team to a timely delivery of the engagement.
  • Gather the information and evidence to assess the client’s cybersecurity monitoring program via interviews with management, interviews with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and requests for documentation and artifacts.
  • Lead Verizon team members and collectively analyze the information in order to determine recommendations, and prepare the deliverable report containing the recommendations.
  • Lead and participate in presentation to client stakeholders, including management and executives, on engagement activities and recommendations.
  • Act as a trusted security advisor to stakeholders and clients.
  • Gather, analyze, understand and apply contextual and business information supporting the security delivery component of the Customer engagement.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelors’ degree or relevant work experience.
  • Experience in Information and/or Cyber Security Operations, preferably in a lead consulting or advisory role.
  • Demonstrated history of subject matter expertise and competency within SOC/SIEM operations, Firewall, IDS/IPS, WSG, ESG, WAF, IAM, PAM, EDR, etc.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Even better if you have:

  • An advanced degree with a cyber security focus.
  • Previous experience working with external clients in a Professional Services or Big 4 type of environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO27001 & NIST frameworks in a Consulting or Practitioner role.
  • Experience of SOC Operations and Advisory Consulting.
  • Extensive client management experience.
  • Detailed oriented and composed in challenging situations.
  • Strong verbal, analytical, and written communication skills required.
  • Demonstrable presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and interdependently as required.
  • Industry security certification(s) such as CISSP, SANS, CISA, CISM required.
