What you’ll be doing...

You will be a senior technical member of the Verizon IoT platform development team. You will be responsible for the overall architecture and design of our IoT platforms to meet scalability, security, and performance requirements. You will be involved in architecting new and existing capabilities of our highly scalable and distributed big data warehouse and analytics platform using the latest cloud based technologies. You will be involved in designing a multi-tenant, highly scalable, big data analytics platform using AWS technologies. You will work and mentor various development teams, partner with customers and business stakeholders to set product strategies and influence overall product directions.


  • Drive major development initiatives with minimum to no additional directions from leadership, handle multiple projects, and help deliver them on time and quick quality.
  • Architecture, design and development of a multi-tenant and big data ingestion and processing platform using the latest AWS technologies such as AWS IoT, Kinesis, Kafka, Lambda, Dynamodb, API Gateway, Cognito, EMR/Spark, and Aurora.
  • Partner with other teams and development leaders to ensure overall architecture and design are aligned with cloud development best practices.
  • Work closely with development teams working on vertical applications that use the platform core services.
  • Develop platform core services that makes vertical application development faster and consistent with the overall design of the entire ecosystem.
  • Work with product managers and stakeholders to set strategic direction for the platform.
  • Work with 3rd party partners and cities to build solutions and integrate with the core platform services.
  • Develop API and support 3rd party development ecosystem for partners to develop applications on top of the platform.

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • Ten plusyears of technical lead and/or management position developing cloud based applications and services.

Even better if you have:

  • 15+ Years industry experience with a degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • In depth hands-on AWS knowledge is a must. Ability to make meaningfultechnicaland business trade-offswith extensive knowledge of data engineering tools, technologies and approaches
  • Minimum of 4 years in-depth experience of AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Minimum of 5+ years developing multi-tenant and high bandwidth telemetry ingestion platform using public cloud environment.
  • Proven track record of managing a development team and delivering products on time using Agile.
  • Solid knowledge about security architecture and best practices, databases, and cloud native architecture.
  • Familiarity with fault-tolerant deployments, devops, and canary, A/B testing deployments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior experience in developing large scale IoT platforms using public cloud.
  • Knowledge of IoT protocols such as REST, MQTT, and LWM2M.
