What you’ll be doing...

You’ll be a part of the team charged with successful delivery of a key strategic initiative. You’ll be a key contributor in organizing the team’s work, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency that our Finance team is known for. You’ll also be part of creating a great environment for the team by providing clarity, your expertise and feedback. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Engages the team and establishes priorities for project management of APAC Accounting transformation.
  • Supports Associate Director, APAC Accounting with key strategic initiatives such as APAC Transformation along with accounting, analyzing, and reporting on general ledger transactions.
  • Leads complex accounting & compliance projects with little or no direction and by influence.
  • Interacts with stakeholders from within and outside of the Accounting organization to respond in an accurate and timely fashion to inquiries related to the group’s projects/activities.
  • Plans, structures and sets deadlines for work activities for your team and team’s projects. Subsequently, monitors the progress and results of activities, including establishing and maintaining healthy project governance and actively managing key dependencies for on-time delivery.
  • Maintains ongoing interaction with the stakeholder’s areas, relating to the projects’ objectives, deliverables, resource allocation and related matters; including creating structured communication to illustrate complex ideas/results. This will include distilling various discussions/findings into key communication areas/themes and customizing to tailor each audience group.
  • Oversees the completion of complex analytical assignments/projects and preparation of accounting related reports.
  • Leads accounting projects to ensure compliance and adherence with controls for internal policies and external regulations, specifically local statutory requirements.
  • Provides subject matter expertise on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to support the proper treatment of business transactions for both US, and applicable country, GAAP.
  • Key contributor to the month end close, financial statement analysis and other tasks related to the maintenance and/or reconciliation of accounting records.
  • Coordinates and oversees activities relative to internal controls, documentation and testing and segregation of duties (Sarbanes Oxley or local equivalent, where applicable).
  • Possesses sufficient accounting acumen to review the work of others and analyzes the output for appropriate accounting treatment, completeness and accuracy related to general accounting.
  • Contributes efforts in developing, implementing, and maintaining systems, procedures and policies for the group; leverages system and technology knowledge to drive simplification efforts.
  • Effectively engages to successfully complete multiple and diverse projects; is accountable for the related accounting treatment, completeness and accuracy of the work product.
  • You’re organized and practical, and a strong communicator. You know both US GAAP, and local GAAP/IFRS accounting inside out, but you’re also an effective and inspiring manager. People look to you for your expertise—but they look up to you for your leadership.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Accounting degree; BA/BS degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Large or medium size company accounting experience
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Excellent English, both written and verbal
  • Direct project management and transformation experience, including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and closing of projects in
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, especially by influencing others
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems and applications such as SAP and Blackline
  • Good team, organizational planning skills, sound judgment, calm but work with a high sense of urgency, attention to detail and strong time management
  • Familiar with international business & accounting practices and processes including local statutory reporting in IFRS and US GAAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • Business level proficiency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese to service regional clients/stakeholders.
  • CPA certification (or local equivalent such as ACCA, ACA or CIMA)
  • Big 4 Accounting/Advisory/Audit experience
  • Experience managing a team of professionals.
  • Experience managing the activities across multiple countries within the Region and with experience of transitioning activities
  • Demonstrated Shared Service Center experience within a global, publicly traded company
  • Understanding of FASB, SEC requirements, SOX compliance
  • Experience designing and implementing accounting systems, running continuous improvement projects, and conducting root cause analysis.
  • Experience in the technology or telecommunications industry
