What you’ll be doing...

Competitive Pricing Team, Manager will lead the competitive pricing activities for Verizon Public Sector strategic pursuits, for an assigned segment (FED, SLED, or DoD), valued from >$50M-$500M+. In this role this people leader will serve as the subject matter expert for competitive pricing and PTW across the portfolio, be accountable for the work-product and manage a team of competitive pricing managers (2 to 4 consultants). This leader will be responsible for driving strategy, processes, and governance to provide clear PTW targets for key and strategic opportunities across the Public Sector and directly contribute to improving win rate and public sector revenue growth.

Reporting to the Competitive Pricing Team, Sr. Manager - Business Strategy, this position will provide leadership and oversight of day-to-day competitive pricing functions, manage work product of individuals assigned, as well as, developing and presenting complex competitive pricing analyses for large, strategic, Public Sector Opportunities. This position directly supports increasing win rate and PWIN on opportunities through early identification of tops down price to win and bottoms up "pricing to win" assessments for strategic priorities across the assigned segment.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of external competitive pricing consultants that have been engaged to develop complex competitive pricing analyses

  • Enforce overall CPT policies and procedures and communicate them to the appropriate stakeholders

  • Implement tools and innovation to improve the competitive pricing process for improved performance, price to win analysis, and win probability

  • Work with key stakeholders to develop a common operational picture of the competitive landscape (executives, account managers, capture managers, pricing/PCM team, etc.)

  • Keep abreast of current and projected pursuit efforts, and communicate a competitive pricing viewpoint with hypotheses of the competitors' predicted behaviors

  • Research and provide alternate pricing approaches/solutions to pursuit efforts that will avert risk and challenge the capture team to confirm they have made the best strategy decisions

  • Guide pricing strategy to ensure competitive bid structure to achieve highest win probabilities

  • Manage the activities of department staff in developing and presenting complex competitive pricing analyses

  • Interface with customers, third party vendors, subcontractors and teammates as required to develop competitive pricing strategies

  • Implement tools and innovation to improve the competitive pricing process for improved performance, price to win analysis, and win probability

  • Maintain a competitive pricing database, continually adding to the knowledge repository

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in a senior competitive pricing team role.
  • Experience with a large systems integrator.
  • Experience building indirect cost structures.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Ability to read/understand system requirements documents/SOW/CONOPS/PWS, etc.
  • Ability to conceptualize an architecture and construct a solution-driven bill of materials and/or technical solution.
  • Strong business acumen with understanding of competitive pricing concepts and techniques.
  • Ability to account for all skills/positions required to execute RFP requirements.
  • Ability to interview SMEs for background information to identify range of approaches, cost drivers, etc.
  • Ability to build a set of logical assumptions for each competitive target from experience and knowledge of the competitive landscape.
  • Strong analytical skills - data analysis, market research, pricing, and planning.
  • Executive-level communication skills - both written and oral.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the government procurement process and contractor proposal responses.
  • Team player with ability to influence and motivate others.
  • Hands-on, self-starter with ability to multi-task and work effectively across departments, with internal and external customers.
  • Telecommunications industry experience.
  • TS Clearance.
  • National Capital Region.
