The Finance Organization

At Verizon, we are building a world-class Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) organization. We have begun a comprehensive program to streamline processes, improve systems, realign the organization and add opportunities for personal skill-building and professional growth. We’re finding new ways to add value and provide strategic support. This is the kind of work we do. FP&A Corporate and Business Unit Team

Move beyond compiling data and help tell the story behind the numbers. Act as a solutions catalyst responsible for providing innovative insights through comprehensive data analysis using cutting edge digital finance tools.

The primary accountabilities associated with this position include:

  • Performing thorough data analysis, uncovering opportunities, and addressing business problems.
  • Engaging with business teams to discuss opportunities where digital finance tools can be leveraged.
  • Performing research on business results of the plan and forecast.
  • Capturing data and financial information to create/update the outline of Business Plan Commitment View, Best View, including testing the accuracy and consistency of the deliverables.
  • Compiling analysis of financial documents.
  • Assembling and tracking monthly business trends by incorporating deliverables, including variance analysis of financial results and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Assembling financial reporting and performing preliminary analyses and providing resulting data.
  • Providing insights into the performance, variance, and risks identified within financial and operational reporting.
  • Compiling data and creating the outline of profitability/costing models to analyze risk and growth opportunities.
  • Performing profitability analysis and developing recommendations to address performance issues.
  • Communicating with partners in a clear and concise manner.

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

You have excellent analytical skills and are eager to work in a collaborative environment with teams to drive solutions to business problems and develop use cases. You work independently and are always willing to learn new technologies. You thrive in a dynamic environment and are able to interact with various stakeholders and cross functional teams to implement innovative business solutions.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Python, R, Visual Basic and/or similar tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or Data Analytics.
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems or Business Administration.
  • Working knowledge of Alteryx, Qlik, Thoughtspot, and/or similar tools.
  • The ability to perform thorough data analyses using database queries, spreadsheets, statistical packages and tools.
  • The ability to communicate the results from data analyses effectively.
  • Experience with data mining and visualization.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A strong detail orientation.
