What you’ll be doing...

You’ll be part of the International Accounting & Reporting team based in the International Headquarters in Reading UK. You’ll be supporting elements of the Verizon Business Group.

This position supports general accounting for in-scope EMEA entities and reports to Manager, Transformation Accounting. The majority of the responsibilities will relate to ownership of the day to day running of the cash and bank accounting processes and processing manual transactions, as well as supporting adhoc projects as required.

As a key member of the team, you will use your experienceand knowledge to not only complete the responsibilities of the role but to look for improvements in processes and savings in time and effort.

  • Responsibility to ensure alignment between our external bank statements and internal ERP system (SAP)
  • Responsibility to ensure all banking transactions are allocated with the correct coding in a timely manner.
  • Responsibility to investigate and resolve all transactional issues relating to the bank processes.
  • Preparation and analysis of balance sheet reconciliations in Blackline each close cycle and provide support on any differences arising.
  • Ensure intercompany funding is allocated within a timely manner.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships within accounting, and across other stakeholder groups (B2C, AP, Treasury)
  • Responsibility to process manual transactions for multiple Verizon OpCos.
  • Provision of input on local finance policies and procedures ensuring ongoing compliance for all accounting and finance operations.
  • Support the continued rollout of SAP, process improvement and optimization.
  • Collaboration with external audit staff for periodic year-end review procedures and local statutory audits as required.
  • Ensure the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of financial data along with recommendations on possible courses of action as appropriate.
  • Identifies/Supports opportunities to increase the leveraging of systems and applications by the user community to enhance business systems optimization for the overall process to minimize manual workaround and standalone systems.
  • Ensuring compliance and adherence with controls for internal policies and external regulations.
  • Support Finance Transformation focused initiatives within EMEA and involvement across International.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ve got accounting expertise, you’re great at meeting tight deadlines, working as part of a team or individually, a keen eye for detail and a drive to see tasks through to completion. You are comfortable managing data from multiple systems in multiple currencies, investigating transactions to find a resolution and communicating clearly and concisely, internationally and with the US.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.
  • Qualified/Part Qualified (ACCA, ACA or CIMA) or with relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of multi-currency and financial systems (ideally SAP, Blackline).
  • Excellent attention to detail is essential.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for European countries or IFRS.
  • Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office, especially in Excel.
  • Experience working within a multinational company.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even Better If You have:

  • A degree.
  • Big 4 Accounting/Advisory/Audit experience.
  • Shared Service Centre experience
  • Experience gained whilst working in the IT or Telecommunications industry.
  • Experience in using Macros, SAP Scripting, Robotics or other digital techniques.
  • Understanding of FASB, SEC requirements, SOX compliance and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
