What you’ll be doing...

The AI&D (Artificial Intelligence and Data) organization at Verizon focuses on delivering the power of data and AI to drive our marketplace leadership through innovative solutions that create value for our customers, shareholders, V teamers and society, responsibly.

The Data Governance and Architecture team specializes in cross functional data management and data governance initiatives providing insight and guidance towards data integrity across business units.

The Senior Data Governance Analyst will establish, promote and evolve business processes that adhere to policies and standards that promote governance through the data lifecycle. The position will work closely with cross enterprise stakeholders including legal, Internal audit, security teams, technology to design new business process and data management capabilities and drive improvements, efficiencies and controls around data management. This will advance the objectives of the enterprise data governance program, promote data governance policies and standards and enable automation of privacy compliance controls.

  • Analyze current data management processes and determine appropriate re-engineering of process to drive enforcement of proper data management practices
  • Liaison with relevant cross functional stakeholders to ensure buy-in of data management processes with legal, Internal audit, Security Teams, technology, architecture design teams.
  • Keep the privacy enterprise data management requirements up to date with the dynamic privacy regulatory environment
  • Control mindset
  • Develop and monitor the organizational data metrics to continuously align data needs with the privacy compliance monitoring requirements and data governance.
  • Analyze & communicate the impact of new regulatory and compelling benefits of the correspondingdata management solutions.
  • Develop executive readouts in order to ensure effective adoption of data management processes on a quarterly basis.
  • Identify, communicate, and coordinate interdependencies across portfolios, work efforts, and delivery teams.
  • Assess Data Maturity based on industry standard models & developand collectmonthly KPIs for the Data Governance program
  • Align data initiatives and projects to the business and technology strategy.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science,Engineering, Information Science, or data analytics.
  • Experience in data management and data governance, solution and process design
  • Experience in business process re-engineering.
  • Significant knowledge of various data management capabilities - data catalog, data governance rule definition, data protection, data provisioning, data sharing, data retention, data stewardship, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong communication, ability to influence groups outside of your organization.
  • Familiarity with knowledge engineering and it's value, benefits and implementation considerations and team makeups.
  • Familiarity with privacy engineering principles
  • Ability to identify opportunities to apply data management capabilities for efficiency and control.
  • Ability to define phased approach towards data management capability deliveries
  • Knowledge in the data privacy regulatory landscape: GDPR/ CPRA.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma Principles.
