What you’ll be doing...

The Principal Engineer – a technical role responsible for supporting the Network Management Center Teams with data analysis of network monitoring tools with an emphasis automation, troubleshooting, triage and network notifications. The position requires a level of expertise that allows for fast and accurate investigation of wireless network tool issues and implementation of interim and permanent solutions. You will be managing a team for all the data analysis, troubleshooting, and solution implementation. You will also partner with sub market engineers for technology analysis and driving Verizon priorities, strategic interests and objectives. Project management and coordination between system tool owners, support teams, and regional end user groups to perform root cause analysis, process creation, develop standards, automation and data clean-up initiatives.

  • Collaborating with developers, engineers and managers to understand and define requirements and prioritize the requests from end users that can potentially impact the business.
  • Working as a part of a cross-functional team to assist engineers with the understanding of the workflow and assistance with their business related issues based on the updates on the new data systems.
  • Working with sub markets teams to insure tasks and goals are on schedule. Work closely to achieve an effective solution for our business goals.
  • Reporting generation from various systems and databases, reconciliation of data, provide quality assurance, test plan creation, strategic analysis, troubleshooting, and critical thinking.
  • Summarizing results of reporting and analyses, making recommendations to the managers, engineers and end users in a clear and concise manner.
  • Training end users and provide technical expertise on new system functionality, resolution strategies, dashboards, reporting, accessing data, examination and process implementation.
  • Reporting on the status of the network and ensure its continued performance while identifying areas of opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitoring and maintenance of the Network systems to ensure system availability and functionality, while evaluating the Network's activity to identify what it is not functioning optimally, which can range from equipment to network issues.
  • Understanding the key metrics and KPIs of the network in order to evaluate the performance of the network, identifying key areas of improvement.
  • Identifying key areas of improvements and ideation around these areas on how to improve the performance, monitoring, reaction and resolution.
  • Developing of standards, tools and processes for monitoring the network to identify issues either with the network or the equipment supporting the systems.
  • Leading multiple team collaboration meetings and discussions revolving around the needs of automation and to determine how best to address concerns that arise in the network, ranging from repairing equipment, creating new processes, or processing changes to the network.
  • Reviewing the metrics and analytics of the network monitoring systems to identify key areas of improvement.
  • Implementing standards, processes and tools for monitoring, reacting and resolving issues in the network.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • End-to-end wireless network experience; Transport, LTE, 5G & C-Band.
  • Knowledge in programing, data analysis, and data analytic tools.
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and dashboard software.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field of study.
  • Experience in the wireless and/or telecommunications industry as a Network Engineer or higher.
  • Technical experience with the operations and troubleshooting of End-to-end wireless network; Transport, LTE, 5G & C-Band.
  • Self-motivated, show initiative, and be able to work independently.
