What you’ll be doing...

This position will support the Core Network Engineering team with responsibilities in the South Central and South East Markets. You will perform engineering responsibilities for one or more COINs and work closely with the Capacity Planning, Design and Operations teams to implement our strategic technology goals and transition to the eNSE/eNSE-SR network fabric platform. You will also work to support Verizon’s strategic technology goals including the ongoing migration of core elements to eNSE and the onboarding of VNFs. You will work collaboratively with existing team members to meet team goals.

  • Interaction with design and architecture teams developing future networks.
  • Develop network configurations from design models and templates.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure new networks are built, migrated and decommissioned
  • Work on engineering and deploying directional networks for Intelligent Edge, including but not limited to: SAP ENSE Fabric, Access ENSE fabric, ISP, NNI and Core connectivity.
  • Build networks for interconnection to VCP platforms for growth, capacity and expansion.
  • Work with underlay and overlay controllers for network creation, network modeling, and network deployments.
  • Leveraging plugins for network deployments across multiple virtualized OS environments.
  • Engineer network solutions with a strong interaction with PNF and VNF applications teams.

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Four or more years of experience in data networking and telecommunications, including expert knowledge and working hands on knowledge preferably in the service provider or large enterprise network environment.
  • Hands-on experience configuring routers, switches and related network equipment. Preferably: Nokia 7750 service router, Nexus 3K, 7K, 9K, Cisco Carrier Routing Systems (CRS), Cisco Network Convergence System (NCS), ASR 9K. Operating Systems: XR-IOS, NX-OS, Nokia SR-OS.

Even better if you have:

  • Hands-on experience with Leaf-and-Spine architecture and cloud computing environment.
  • Solid understanding of Networking specific technologies: EVPN, VXLAN, L2VPN, L3VPN, OSPF, ISIS, MPBGP, QOS/Traffic Engineering, MPLS (LDP & TDP) , Segment routing.
  • Any scripting experience i.e. Linux, Openstack, Python, automation, ansibles, and virtualization.
