What you’ll be doing...

You’ll be a technical engineering lead for the team supporting Verizon’s core back-end IT network infrastructure, platforms and applications for mission critical Verizon Network employees and teams, and will be responsible for leading in the operation of over 1000 systems and components serving 15,000 end-user devices. This team manages the heart of what is the IT experience for Verizon’s most mission-critical employees, those that operate and manage the Verizon customer network.

  • Oversee the management platforms that maintain and monitor all servers and clients in the Verizon Network IT domain including the imaging, software deployment, and updates for our desktops, laptops and internal servers.
  • Direct the evolution of these platforms used across Verizon into the future.
  • Be at the forefront in the decisions surrounding desktop and laptop standards choices for teams all across Verizon.
  • Control and manage existing tools and systems, and you’ll evaluate, recommend and implement new solutions that improve and support the Verizon network employee user experience.
  • Be a key contributor in the standardization of software and processes among the Verizon corporate, legacy, and other siloed environments, helping to bring together resources and processes from multiple teams, shift users from old products to directional products, and oversee collaboration with corporate and other desktop engineering teams on items such as endpoint security, cloud security/CASB, security benchmarks, uptime and distribution key performance indicators, and other collaborative engineering topics.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft’s System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Development Technology (MDT), and/or Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) and Windows Software Update Services (WSUS).
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server and OS fundamentals, VMWare vSphere versions 6 and 7
  • Experience in Windows 10, Windows Server 2019, and PowerShell scripting, Desktop Engineering, Information Security, and/or Software Development.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
  • Background in Technical Architecture.
  • A current or recent Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate certification, or equivalent MCITP certification.
  • A current or recent VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification in Datacenter Virtualization (DVC) or other relevant area.
  • Experience influencing industry trends and customer sentiment around new technology adoption.
  • Ability to self-manage projects, including managing deadlines and dependencies.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Google Slides, Docs, Sheets) , and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to effectively communicate through presentation, interpersonal, verbal and written skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work across multiple, diverse teams.
  • Exhibit strong technical leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of the .NET Core environment.
  • Experience with VBScript, Batch Files, and WSL/Bash/shell scripting.
  • Experience in Multi-discipline knowledge of development, testing, infrastructure, operations, technical architecture, Application Operations, Production Operations, Database, and corporate functions (e.g. security compliance, etc.).
  • At least one industry-recognized certification in relevant Microsoft, VMWare, or equivalent technologies.
