What you’ll be doing...

The Director of Strategic Planning will be responsible for planning and directing Verizon Wireless's strategic and long-range goals, focusing on executing the bold vision that will lead to a sustainable competitive advantage. The Director will be a thought leader to Verizon’s most senior leaders and will play an instrumental role in planning and implementing Verizon’s next generation strategy. This leader will successfully navigate a complex organizational structure and continuously bring forward an outside-in view that challenges internal thinking and provides objective views of opportunities and risks. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop implementation plans and corresponding go-to market plans for the next gen growth strategy, with emphasis on financial modeling and competitive analysis, that drive transformational growth from inception through execution
  • Apply strategic framework to develop the broader programs, projects, financial investment, and organizational strategies
  • Provide recommendations to senior management and business leaders based on emerging trends, expansion opportunities, competitive threats, viability of outside business partners, and internal business process improvement
  • Leverage in-depth consumer and market data, translating consumer-driven understandings into business observations and recommended actions that drive growth
  • Identify and develop domain-specific management tools and methodologies to further define strategic priorities; provide weekly and monthly updates to senior executives
  • Lead cross-functional teams to develop detailed business plans, including acquisition analyses, technology development assessment, roll-out communication strategy, and training
  • Conduct business reviews to identify strengths and weaknesses and to evaluate operational effectiveness
  • Ensure strategic planning is consistently integrated throughout the organization by partnering closely with Consumer counterparts, including Product teams, Marketing, and Finance

What we’re looking for...

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Marketing, Computer Engineering/Science, and/or equivalent work experience; MBA strongly desired
  • 8+ years of experience in a strategic planning and/or management consulting role; 3+ years of experience in segmentation strategy
  • 2+ years at a top strategy consulting company defining multi-year business plans, including ROI analyses, market assessments, capability modeling, and operating model development
  • Management experience in consumer technology sector, with a preference for telecommunications domain expertise
  • Demonstrated experience in execution of product development, strategic planning, and regulatory compliance
  • Proven success influencing product vision and strategy, as well as experience leading multiple projects or major work streams to deliver on the strategy.
  • Strong track record of developing innovative technology strategies that drive and shape consumer habits
  • Wireless domain expertise or relevant mobile experience preferred
  • Ability to lead through influence, build engagement and partner across a diverse set of stakeholders including development, network, finance, strategy, marketing, advertising, and sales teams
  • Embodies an incredible passion for consumer product and services subject matter, applications, and content; understands emerging technologies and how Verizon can leverage them to address customer needs.
  • Stellar presentation skills and gravitas
  • Ability to predict market trends and focus on high impact initiatives that capitalize on future opportunities; expertise in revenue planning and forecasting
