You’ll be front and center, hands-on and contributing your creative energy to high-impact projects from the moment you arrive through the course of this 10-week experience. You will take part in meaningful work and real-life projects that will help you grow both professionally and personally throughout the program. You'll learn from the best minds in the industry and improve your business strategy knowledge in an environment that’s dedicated to industry superiority. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with business unit leaders and functional leaders at the highest levels within Verizon to execute on a wide variety of strategic and transformative projects aimed at achieving the strategic and financial objectives of the business and preparing the business for the future.

As a Technical Engineering intern, you will have the opportunity to deploy tests into the Continuous Integration environment and replicate to the customer specific instances of the core application ensuring improved stability, coverage and reducing rework.

In this internship, you may have the opportunity to:

  • Create unit, functional and system tests and assertions to ensure coverage for the Project Management System (PMIS) baseline application.

  • Deploy PMIS on the model, viewer, controller framework of Ruby on Rails.

  • Leverage jQuery, Ruby, ERB mark-up, HTML, CSS, MariaDB, and Linux servicers, as well as gems (libraries) to provide web accessible information to support project planning, implementation, issue management, and reporting.

  • Execute circuit and device activation tasks in accordance with established Methods of Procedure and Runbook instructions.

  • Document all steps performed while updating Verizon systems with ongoing status in accordance with established procedures.

  • Prioritize workload accross various activation queues to maintain appropriate service levels.

You must be currently enrolled in a degree program and be in good academic standing to be considered.

You’ll need to have:

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s program with a concentration in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, Information Technology, Engineering or related major with an expected completion date between December 2022 and June 2023.

  • Current enrollment at Tuskegee University. This position is limited to students currently enrolled at Tuskegee University.

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.

  • Willingness to work in Cary, NC.

Even better if you have:

  • Working knowledge of Ruby on Rails.

  • Knowledge or experience of data structure and algorithms.

  • Knowledge or experience with database systems and clients.

  • Knowledge or experience with object oriented software engineering.

  • Knowledge or experience with web technologies, languages and markup such as HTML, XML, restful services, webs services, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, Nginx, etc.

  • Knowledge or experience with Linux Operating Systems Networking.
