What you’ll be doing...

The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Governance Project Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing a process that identifies EHS requirements and reviews those requirements to determine the level of compliance and to identify gaps and areas for improvement. You are an experienced, energetic self-starter who wants to be a transformative member of a world-class corporate EHS team. You are organized and able to complete projects with minimal supervision, but also collaborate as part of a larger team. This role is an integral part of Verizon's Environment, Health and Safety team.

  • Review EHS programs and confirm that the business is complying with program requirements.
  • Coordinate and conduct facility and program compliance assessments to identify root causes and short and long-term corrective actions as necessary. Track corrective actions are made and completed timely.
  • Support EHS Management system integration, management and continual improvement. Assist with ensuring that key system processes are scheduled, conducted and documented.
  • Identify EHS performance improvement projects and participate with cross functional resources to complete projects and mitigate risks to incorporate current practices and the latest technologies.
  • Conduct EHS regulation reviews for applicability to Verizon and coordinate with other team members and stakeholders to determine if a regulation impacts the business and act as a representative with government agencies in EHS matters affecting the company.
  • Develop communications and compliance implementation strategies for new regulations applicable to Verizon.
  • Develop, update and implement EHS programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and implement an internal communications plan that informs, engages and educates employees about EHS topics, training and programs.
  • Review and respond to EHS related prospective client questionnaires that are part of bids and requests for proposals (RFP) submitted by Verizon’s marketing teams.
  • Manage EHS vendors, expenses and budget.
  • Act in support of and as a role model for Verizon's goals of safety for everyone; at work, at home and on the road.

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience working in a governance role monitoring and auditing compliance implementation and performance.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in EHS, Engineering, Science or other technical related field.
  • Five or more years of experience in a related corporate or compliance role.
  • Experience with managing, designing, auditing or implementing EHS or quality management systems (i.e. ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 9001).
  • Professional certification from a nationally recognized board (Certified Safety Professional, Certified Safety Auditor, OSHA 500, or similar certification).
  • Technical knowledge of current EHS regulations.
  • Experience with Enablon.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to develop positive working relationships.
  • Communication, writing, research and analytical skills.
  • Results driven, detail oriented, able to anticipate needs and issues and identify appropriate solutions.
