What you’ll be doing...

As a strategic leader of platform security offerings, you will provide market assessment of own and related product areas, characterize the threat landscape in terms of customer/buyer security benefits, build customer insights, and perform competitive analysis to develop a prioritized feature roadmap for those platform security offerings. For these prioritized features, you will write well-articulated product requirements and work with Engineering to develop and launch innovative security and manageability experiences. As the owner of product strategy and execution, you will shape GTM activities including market positioning, driving business performance, and optimizing customer experiences working closely with worldwide and market-level Marketing teams.

  • Lead an Enterprise Platform Security team owning end-to-end design and implementation.
  • Establish security guardrails and best practices.
  • Initiate and foster relationships with other functional and business partners (internal and external) to identify and drive best practices.
  • Envision and communicate the platform security strategy and functionality.
  • Develop a platform security strategy based on sound market, customer, and competitor insights.
  • Write well-articulated product requirements.
  • Work across internal Verizon security organizations to find/develop strategic partnerships.
  • Work closely with engineering, application and database teams to deliver on platform security roadmap.
  • Identify new and emerging security tools and practices for adoption.
  • Develop in-depth security architecture, design and coding standards across infrastructure, application and data security, to drive a standardized set of security requirements, and align with internal policies and meet external compliance/regulatory requirements.
  • Perform threat modeling, conduct reviews of security architecture and platform/service designs, and audit source code.

This role will be based out of one of the locations listed in the posting. In this role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager

What we’re looking for...

You’re an experienced manager of security engineers who believes your success is measured by the success of your team which is ultimately measured by the success of your customers. You have experience in securing platforms, applications, databases and cloud infrastructure at scale. You believe in providing useful abstractions, clear customer SLOs, and meaningful KPIs. You’re confident in asking difficult questions and challenging your team and dependencies while being highly collaborative and open to input.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in large containerized computing environments utilizing Kubernetes with Docker containers for a large IT enterprise wide environment.
  • Experience in API, Microservices, network and security architectures and design patterns.
  • Experience and knowledge in Public, Private, and Hybrid Cloud computing environments including the integration of compute technologies.
  • Experience with Data security and Governance.
  • Experience with data architecture, modeling and integration.
  • Experience coding in Java, Python, or Go, and at least one scripting language.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information System, or related field.
  • Build AIOps platform to aggregate systems/application data, develop anomaly and forecasting models and self-healing framework.
  • Lead and participate in performance tests identify bottlenecks, opportunities for optimization, and capacity demands for retail season and device launches.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow and lead security engineering teams.
  • Prior experience with securing platform, application, database and cloud infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of AWS, Azure, GCP and OCI native security tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of application security concepts, best practices and methods.
  • Understanding of security by design principles and architecture level security concepts.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging security technologies, threats and techniques for exploiting security vulnerabilities.
  • Ability to secure container-centric deployments using Docker & Kubernetes.
  • Experience in implementing and integrating security tools into CI/CD.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Consistent track record of shaping and executing multi-year technical strategy.
  • Demonstrated history of mentoring and growing engineers with varying levels of experience and skills.
  • Care deeply about building diverse teams.
  • Experience in systems concepts, system administration, and cloud platforms.
  • Managed 24x7 operation based teams.
  • Oversee the quality, and engineering practices of a large team of software engineers building Kubernetes offerings.
  • Experience with software development, software delivery lifecycle, application modernization, DevOps, Service/Infrastructure as Service and Operations.
  • Knowledge of SRE practices and principles to build resilient systems and to provide business continuity.
