What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is a Fortune 500 company and takes pride in servicing 99% of Fortune 500 companies as well as Government Agencies around the world. In Canberra, we run two key business units - the Government Security Operations Centre (GSOC) and Advanced Security Operations Centre (ASOC), providing services to customers who rely on Verizon to provide 24x7 security analytics of their critical infrastructure.

Based in Canberra, you will be a member of the Verizon Asia-Pacific Advanced Security Operations Centre (ASOC) in a specialised Threat Intelligence Analyst role, working with various internal and external stakeholders to provide operational support for threat intelligence collection, investigation and exchange. Threat Intelligence Analysts need to be proactive and competent in threat investigation and analysis including contributing to the resolution of incidents.

  • Collection, aggregation and analysis of threat intelligence.
  • Threat hunt activities based on emerging threats, indicators and advisories.
  • Perform analysis and forensics on full network traffic capture data.
  • Extract network artefacts (static & dynamic) to enhance incident detection across the service.
  • Add context to Security Analytics/SIEM operations resulting in improved detection rates.
  • Proactive and strategic support for 24/7 SOC analysts.
  • Open source (OSINT) intelligence research for the development of threat indicators.

Where you'll be working:

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience, particularly in cyber threat intelligence.
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or recognised industry certifications in cyber security.
  • Experience with threat intelligence sharing platforms and formats such as MISP, STIX and TAXII.
  • Experience with common SIEM platforms such as Splunk, QRadar and/or Sentinel, particularly in threat intelligence integration and/or use case development.
  • Experience in network forensics and analysis.
  • A current or recent NV1 security clearance, or the willingness to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Even better if you have:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with customers to understand their requirements.
  • Industry certifications such as GCTI, CTIA, CRTIA, GCIA and/or GCIH.
  • Experience as a SOC analyst.
  • Experience in malware analysis.
