Verizon is a Fortune 500 company and prides in servicing 99% of Fortune 500 companies as well as Government Agencies around the world. In Canberra, we run a key business unit - the Government Security Operations Centre (GSOC) that supports a number of Australian Government departments. Our operations centre is focused around collaboration and success and you will be a part of a skilled operations team managing dynamic multi-tenanted and dedicated secure gateway environments.

Verizon has an opportunity within the Operations group for a DevOps Engineer to facilitate the build and deployment of new Cloud and On-Premises solutions, as well as maintaining existing systems. This role is part of a team that is responsible for developing new solutions that are suitable for use within both the current environment and future “cloud first” solutions. You will be considered achampion of all things DevOps and automation alongside like-minded individuals. Your passion for building tomorrow’s solutions will lift the knowledge of the greater team.

  • Enabling Automation and Orchestration across a variety of environments.
  • Network and System Administration for services such as Identity, Backup, DNS, Logging and Operating Systems.
  • Creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation and supporting processes.
  • Transition of new services and solutions into Operations for ongoing support.
  • Interact with other teams and vendors to resolve issues and deliver high quality solutions.
  • Translation of Requirements into well documented, functional solutions.

Where you'll be working:

This role can be based in Canberra, Melborune or Sydney. In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in one or more Automation/Orchestrationtools such as Cloud Formation, Puppet, Demisto, XSOAR, Rundeck and Ansible.
  • Linux and / or Windows Systems Administration and automated deployment experience.
  • Exprience in supporiting Federal Goverment
  • NV1 Security clearance or above and eligibility to maintain.

Even better if you have one or more of the following.

  • Working knowledge of ITIL Change Management processes and the Australian Government Information Security Manual.
  • Two or more years of experience working in a 24x7 Cloud or SaaS production operations team or alternatively similar experience working with on premise systems management.
  • Deployment and use of Postgres, MySQL, MSSQL.
  • Relevant certifications such as: AWS, Linux, Automation, Security, VMware, Azure
  • Demonstrable sound written and oral communications skills, be articulate in explanations, and communicate in a clear positive fashion with internal and external stakeholders, clients, and suppliers, covering highly complex solutions.
