What you’ll be doing...

Directly supporting the Director for Public Sector Capture, the Sr. Manager, Business Strategy and Capture Success provides leadership, capture strategy development and oversees execution of strategic capture initiatives that are critical to supporting the growth of Verizon’s Public Sector business and transformation efforts across the broader Business Development & Strategic Sales (BDSS) team.

This position oversees a myriad of capture strategy initiatives that will define a best-in-class capture capability within the Public Sector and includes improved systems, processes, and tools,metrics and measurement,and access to expert consulting resources. This role requires a firm knowledge of industry leading capture processes and strategies, is an expert in the business development lifecycle, and capable of leading a diverse team of Verizon SME’s, managers, and consultants to accomplish strategic initiatives that will enable a best-in-class capture capability at Verizon. We are looking for a process-oriented problem solver with expertise in stakeholder engagement and communications, process improvement, program and project management, data analysis, and application of industry best practices for capture management.

• Overseeing strategy development and implementation of capture processes that enhance Verizon’s effectiveness in capturing Public Sector opportunities
• Partnering with Public Sector Strategy Director to align capture strategy to Public Sector priorities
• Obtaining strategy buy-in with key stakeholders, coordinate initiatives and activities with partner teams including sales, business development, proposal management, engineering, customer delivery, and finance
• Collaborating with Sales Operations and Learning and Development organizations to train staff on capture systems, processes, and tools
• Defining and operationalize capture strategy and support development of team performance indicators and service level agreements and track performance against measures
• Defining and implementing strategy and internal processes for B&P financials, budget tracking, and status reporting requirements
• Supporting Director in resourcing strategy, development, and performance management of Capture team staff
• Synthesizing bid trends and learnings and document and propose best practices and new bid strategies across Public Sector
• Providing strategic oversight of Deal Lifecycle Management governance and recommendingchanges in accordance with industry standards
• Overseeing execution of multi-vendor contractor support strategy, including contract management, vendor management, consultant management, and quality assurance
• Strategic oversight of Capture-led IT systems development and integration
• Inspiring individual and team performance through on-going training, development, coaching, recognition, and rewards
• Establishing, growing, and maintaining positive relationships and partnerships with internal customers and partners to enable capture strategy adoption
• Building trust, influencing, and communicating effectively with executive management via Director-level support and development of work product, business cases, etc to improve win rates and further capture-led initiatives

Where you’ll be working:

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Six or more years of relevant work experience.
• Experience managing full-lifecycle capture efforts and/or deal strategy for Federal and State/Local customers.
• Five years of supervisory experience (leading a team of five or more).
• Experience in industry-standard capture methodology and/or acquisition process (i.e., Shipley or equivalent).
• Experiencewith Shipley or relavent formal capture methodologies.
• Willingness to travel up to approxametly 25% of the time.
• A valid driver's license

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• A degree
• Systems Integrator or telecom experience.
• Proven track record of enabling business strategy, capture, and BD lifecycle process initiatives.
• Program Management experience w/ Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification
