What you’ll be doing...

The Verizon CX Strategic Initiatives team is an internal group tasked with evolving the Verizon customer experience by envisioning and concepting new or reimagined products and services with customers at the center. The team is assembling the brightest talent in design, design strategy, research, and product management to collaborate with other Verizon organizations to shape the future of customer experience.
Your role focuses on defining and aligning teams around a design vision that informs approach and increased accountability for opportunity framing and solution quality. You develop and communicate a strong point of view as a mentor and thought leader within the Design organization. While the role of Principal Designer does not require formal management responsibilities, you may lead a group or project within CX Strategic Initiatives. You play a critical role in elevating design dialogue and shaping the design process within teams throughout Verizon Design.

  • Facilitate and inspire creative concepting.
  • Challenge designers to responsibly push the boundaries during concept phases.
  • Lead activities to identify appropriate customer problems, solutions, and opportunities. Help form or create idea briefs to frame exploration.
  • Generate multiple credible experience concepts. Explore, refine, and document solutions.
  • Develop, evaluate, and refine concepts based on learnings from prototypes. Create prototypes to demonstrate experience intent or feasibility.
  • Support planning and facilitation for iteration and critique to improve solution quality and support generating high-level user, business, and technical requirements.
  • Recommend and facilitate activities/methods to guide teams, partners, and stakeholders through ambiguous project periods.
  • Identify activities and communications necessary to deliver product strategy ideas to a partner or stakeholder. Build a shared understanding of how the method and tone of communication impact the project.
  • Create transparency into your decision-making process, and recognize valid challenges to your point of view. Then, externalize choices and behaviors so that the stakeholders can understand the rationale.
  • Maintain fluency in shared methods, tools, and software. Maintain organized working files and project directories for easier collaboration.

Where you'll be working...

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in consumer facing design leadership.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Advanced degree in design or business..
  • Experience defining and driving the vision of experience programs and/or partnership-based programs.
  • Comfort managing concurrent projects in a fast-paced, results-driven environment and high-level strategic planning with daily tactical execution.
