What you’ll be doing...

The Application Networking team under the Global Technology Services - Network and Unified Communication organization is looking for a self-motivated and forward-thinking engineer to support the development, planning and implementation of application delivery services. This senior level role requires the engineer to interface and collaborate across multiple IT organizations and implement annual performance objectives that preserve, strengthen and transform Global Technology Services across Verizon. This will be done in conjunction with team members by researching, planning and implementing network strategies that ensure high availability, network security and best practices. The primary role will be will be to plan, design and implement application delivery solutions (load balancing and GSLB) for Verizon IT applications that reside in six on-premise data centers, AWS and OCI.

  • Planning, designing, implementing and supporting Citrix and Avi application delivery technologies
  • Experience with Network automation and Devops software development (Linux, Jenkins, Python, Ansible).
  • New technology development and testing.
  • Work extensively with application and infrastructure team members to advance the company’s IT Transformation Strategy in order to support business priorities
  • Implementation of directional application and security configurations, assuring availability and platform support
  • Manage the integration of multiple complex projects that will require an exceptional and secure customer experience once placed into production.
  • Report status, progress and issues to management as required.
  • Review and evaluate network change controls for accuracy and inclusion of key information as well as potential operational impact.
  • Provide detailed delivery plans, manage post-mortem follow-up on critical outages and translate technical information for the executive management team.
  • Evaluate, recommend and implement mitigation strategies and opportunities for implementation and operational improvement.
  • Participation in on-call rotation.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or technical discipline
  • Three or more years of experience with Security and Application products from Citrix, AVI or F5
  • Citrix CCE-N, CCA-N, and CCP-N certification.
  • Experience with HTTP, HTTPS, SSL, and other networking services and protocols.
  • Experience with Data Center LAN networking and troubleshooting.
  • Experience maintaining appropriate documentation for internal consumption on all aspects of the network infrastructure.
  • Experience creating and presenting presentations to all levels of an organization
  • Willingness to travel as necessary for training opportunities.
  • Ability to work independently and be part of a distributed team of network engineers.
  • Ability to focus on process and the customer experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple critical initiatives at once.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Results oriented agile mindset with a strong sense of urgency.
