What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is seeking highly motivated candidates with broad experience to join the Innovation & Product Realization team that supports VCG (Verizon Consumer Group). In this exciting position, and as part of the fast-paced Consumer Technology & Product Development Engineering team, you will play an integral role establishing and nurturing external engagements with various industry partners and stakeholders, including top entrepreneurs, start-ups, inventors/disruptors, technology innovators, product/service companies, and VCs. Your focus in this role will be to scout technologies that align to strategy and roadmap, validate product/market fit, build initial business cases, support building prototypes,to integrate and validate technologies from a variety of sources that can be scaled up as revenue generating future products/services.

The primary responsibilities associated with the position include:

• Identify and engage with partners that align to Consumer Product strategy to create new revenue streams for Verizon
• Establish partnerships with start-ups to evaluate their concept for potential proof-of-concepts and customer trials
• Collaborate with technical teams to develop proof-of-concepts and customer trials to verify and validate the technology, document results, findings, and KPIs.
• Research and stay up-to-date on the current state-of-the-art and future technology trends, primarily within the evolving mobile ecosystem/value chain, key players within segments, and current/emerging business models.
• Develop compelling use cases that will take advantage of future 5G networks to complement/supplement or create brand new revenues streams for Verizon.
• Propose/Define technical projects based on our roadmap and their associated deliveries/milestones collaboratively with our partners.
• Analyze and discover new insights that will translate into emerging products and services to delight Verizon customers and capture developers’ mindset.
• Define new product/service concepts, build out business cases, including startup/ongoing cost picture, estimate market size/revenue potential, and product/market fit.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
• Six or more years of relevant work experience.
• Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer or Communications Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field. MS preferred.
• Six or more years of experience in commercial product development (higher layers of technology stack and software focus is desired).
• Experience with value brands (Tracfone, Visible, Prepaid)
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and ability to defend design decisions.
• Software development experience with the ability to write code using a high level programming language
• Experience with at least more than one of the following technologies: AR/VR, 5G, Immersive Media, FinTech, Security, Gaming Connected Health, Education, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning.
• Strong and diverse technology experience.
• Ability to stay focussed and function with minimal direction
