What you’ll be doing...

The Senior Manager will lead and manage a highly motivated and successful System Performance Engineering team in the Michigan/Indiana/Kentucky sub-market with responsibility for the Kentucky market.

  • Oversee the successful implementation of new RF solutions into existing network including, but not limited to: new cell sites, cell site modifications, small cells, in-building systems and DAS.
  • Proactively conduct long-term planning to ensure long lead performance solutions are tracked and included in network upgrades/redesigns, and ensuring network performance maintains consistency with changing requirements and needs of the business.
  • Ensure the market networks maintain their network performance superiority and reliability, leading the team to ensure prompt trouble identification and resolution.
  • Develop and implement processes to manage the overall diagnostics and trouble resolution/escalation for the VZW regional network related services. These networks include CDMA, EVDO, LTE and 5G.
  • Work with other internal departments to set policies and procedures to enhance trouble resolution time. Work closely with Operations to quickly resolve customer impacting issues. Interface with regional network teams, Centralized teams, HQ teams, and equipment vendors for the purpose of operations support and root cause analysis.
  • Monitor and analyze call trending data to ensure service levels are met and maintained. Initiate and manage new processes to improve RF network performance andquality, identify and implement changes to improve service quality including antenna modifications, system parameter adjustments, and software changes.
  • Work closely with other disciplines within the region utilizing strong communication skills to articulate priorities relating to the LTE network performance. Manage high-capacity events including monitoring and reporting.
  • Partner with RF Engineering to help drive overall RF network design to achieve performance objectives andmeet capacity goals.
  • Maintain a strong relationship with the Sales organization supporting them as necessary to establish and maintain confidence in Network superiority.
  • Continue to provide the best network in the industry as measured by Root Metrics (LTE and5G data and LTE call performance), Ookla, Tutela, and other 3rd party drive testing.
  • Hire, train, and develop the team.

Where you will be working:

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and support night or weekend work as needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% (overnight travel may be required).
  • A valid driver’s license.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or other related degree. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Prior related management experience.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership capabilities (e.g., understanding changes in the marketplace and the impact on our business, strategic goal and priority setting for the team, ability to build and maintain strong team).
  • Ability to manage customer and executive escalations.
  • Working knowledge in one or more of the following platforms: LTE technology: voice and data infrastructure including: Lucent, Motorola, Nortel, Ericsson. Familiarity with Ericsson equipment and Ericsson OSS. Operating systems and applications including: UNIX, Windows, Propagation Modeling tools (e.g., Atoll), MS Office applications, and ArcGis. Wireless technologies including: LTE, 1x CDMA, EVDO. Test equipment including: DataPro, pilot scanners, spectrum analyzers and sweep/PIM equipment. General knowledge in digital communications including: Fiber, FTTC, and microwave.
  • Solid understanding of RF engineering concepts and principles, including antenna, line, and RF theory; propagation modeling, FCC/FAA regulations, and must show aptitude and desire to learn and advance in a changing technical field. Familiar with ANR, VPS, VSON. Automation and programming knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills.
