What you’ll be doing...

This opportunity is for Military personnel who are current participants of the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program.

Join our Wireline Engineering team where you will work on new technologies and find ways to meet our Fiber Deployment Project needs and work with innovative ideas to document Fiber Inventory. You will work on a diverse range of complex problems and regularly lead multiple, technically complex, large-scale projects. You will be working in the Local Market Wireline Engineering Team and will be working closely and partnering with Network Planning, RAN Engineering, Operations and process organizations to drive the Technology solutions. You will manage the fiber inventory, engineering design, build, consumption and reporting functions and play a critical role in One Fiber, 5G and iEN programs in the company. You will assist in the management of the inventory of fiber networks through database tracking of fiber routes, fiber enclosures, fiber optic cable, conduit and demand point’s list data.

  • Managing all engineering and construction activities of assigned projects associated with expanding and maintaining the OSP network infrastructure.
  • Leading large scale projects, driving productivity through use of vendor resources to meet deliverables.
  • Engaging appropriate internal and external organizations and individuals with professional written/verbal communications to accomplish required tasks.
  • Coordinating project activities with contractors, developers, municipalities and consultants.
  • Proposing solutions supported by sound engineering and operational productivity to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.
  • Recognizing vulnerabilities in network infrastructure and making intelligent decisions to ensure reliability–within financial constraints.
  • Preparing detailed cost analysis, project specifications, spend forecasts, route mapping, requisitions, and business justifications.
  • Processing reports, vendor invoices, material receipts, and other administrative duties.
  • Receiving general instruction, otherwise performs independently with minimal supervision, exercising
  • Achieving daily objectives and approaches to critical/complex assignments.
  • Communicating project status and progress to team members and customers.
  • Multi-tasking to effectively manage a wide range of simultaneous activities often interrupted by other demands.
  • Responding immediately to network outages, coordinating necessary resources and activities for prompt and appropriate restoration.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

Must be a current participant of the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program.

You know a lot about outside plant engineering practices. You enjoy analyzing problems and having the autonomy to select and implement the right solutions. While you work well independently, you are also a great teammate and enjoy leading colleagues and coordinating efforts to ensure the best outcomes. No stranger to a fast-paced environment, you balance multiple assignments and opposing priorities while staying passionate about important deadlines. As a strong communicator, you can quickly build relationships with a diverse range of people and explain complex technical issues in a way that everyone can understand.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical/science/mathematics fields.
  • Experience with CAD, 3GIS, ARCGIS, CoFEE/Canvas, or other mapping and drafting software.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with corporate data and reporting platforms (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Cheetah).
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines as you manage multiple work assignments with competing priorities.
  • Building and maintaining excellent communication and relationships with several cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborating with the project teams for clear understanding of project scope to drive target deliverables that will meet company goals.
  • Reporting and summarizing project information into easy to understand communications that keeps everyone in the loop and on track.
  • Demonstrating initiative, anticipating and preparing for upcoming situations, and acting quickly to address issues before they become problems.
  • Driving process improvements, adopting best practices, and documenting procedures for the project team to help improve team performance.
